Without any lengthy introductions, let’s get right to the point…the movie was a bit of a disappointment. That said, it can’t be called bad, weak, raw, unfinished. It is what it is, with predictable weaknesses. But after 13 years away, I expected Cameron to do a much more thorough job on the scripting, dialogue, drama parts. He didn’t.

The plot is superficial and the feeling that somewhere else has seen it. And seen not in the movie, but a full-length cartoon (no, not Pocahontas, at least I can not understand which one). Why a cartoon? The pitch is cartoonish. Banal, sometimes the most naive one-liners dialogues of children with each other and children with their parents make you regularly catch the very cringe, about which you so often hear from young people.

Not only is the dialogue weak, but some of the action sequences are blatantly copied from the first part. The water tribe princess teaching Jake’s youngest son to pilot water screens, with an exact repetition of the phrases Neytiri used to tell Jake when she taught him to drive the usual flying cranes (‘Feel her’ and all that meaningful eye-closing in an attempt to mentally connect with the ‘transport’). Then there’s the water monster’s chase in forbidden waters for all the same son of Jake and the attempts to hide among the rocks exactly replicate Jake’s escape from the forest predator on his first foray into the forest thicket from the original film.

Quaritch is even more cardboard and formulaic in his anger than in the first part, but if in the first film it was in moderation and even gave him a certain charisma, here he looks caricatured in his already blue guise.

Some children’s characters seemed frankly superfluous. Cameron’s attempt to make Jake a father of many children and to emphasize the level of responsibility he is burdened with is understandable, but the youngest daughter was not necessary for the general plot line, and from the rest, only Kiri may be singled out as an interesting character.

Few memorable new tunes (or maybe I didn’t hear it, having paid too much attention directly to the picture), but all that is memorable are more or less remixed variations of James Horner’s masterpiece.

Perhaps this is a quibble, it will be curious to read other reviews, but I felt that the gluing of the various episodes in the film was not done to a high standard. The action feels like it jumps around in parts of the movie between locations and characters without logical transitions. The Harry Potter franchise suffered from a similar disease from about Part 5 to the end. Again, perhaps these are my overstated expectations, and upon revision some of the aforementioned drawbacks will fade away, but I couldn’t help noticing, I’m writing hot off the press.

On the plus side, as always, the almost flawless picture and the successful second half of the film, in which it finally warmed up. The first, quite frankly, was already suggesting that the review would be red hot.

And despite the fact that they’ve had their screen time cut significantly, Jake and Neytiri are still the pillars on which Avatar rests. They are the ones who pulled out the last hour of this action.

Purely subjective: compared to the first part, the movie lost its, ahem, realism (the main character’s problems, at least before the arrival on Pandora, seemed closer to the earthbound viewer, and again – more adult dialogues and forced a more serious attitude to what is happening) and somewhere brutality. It felt more like watching a Disney blockbuster than a Cameron blockbuster.

It’s a tough movie, but it’s deep at the same time. It is a bit unusual to see Denzel Washington as the ‘bad guy’. However, after a closer look at the monitor, you begin to understand that the guy is not unequivocally a bad guy. Alonzo is a tragic figure, the product of a war which, although undeclared, is waged every day on our streets (yes, it doesn’t matter whose streets – American or Russian, everything really is).

With time comes a terrible understanding: no one will take care of you, protect you, solve your problems, everyone is on his own. And then man begins not to live, but to survive, to fight for his existence, his place under the sun… To fight ruthlessly, according to the law of the modern jungle. It is hard not to succumb to this mood.

Jay (Ethan Hawke) is very different. But what does he know? This is the first time he’s dipped into the cauldron in which Alonzo has been simmering for years. Yes, he’s proven himself very worthy here. But what will happen in five, ten, twenty years from now, when it is clear that treachery and meanness, cruelty and indifference, corruption and venality are not accidental exceptions, but a system? What will he do then? Break down and leave? Will he break down and become part of the system himself? Or will he not break down and find the strength to resist it?
The audience doesn’t know that, and neither does Jake.

But in fact, we all find ourselves in this position all the time – you don’t have to be in the American police or the Russian police for that. A system that tries to grind, to remake a person to suit itself… We encounter it at every turn. And so, if you think about it, you realize that there are also many days in our lives – training days.

Almost ten years have passed, but I very clearly remember the smell of my piano, the sound, all the scratches, the clatter of the lid and the small specks that were gathering in the corner… I remember…

By the way, by a strange coincidence ten years ago I watched this film for the first time. Tonight in the second. All these years I remembered it, but did not dare to look again.

It is strange and at the same time quite natural that this film became even closer to me, because over time I understood even more deeply what my instrument meant and means to me.

When Ada’s husband leaves the piano on the shore, he signs a sentence for himself that he will never achieve her Love, because in fact he left her, Ada, on the shore …

What can I write here … I understand everything …

And the way you can play on the kitchen table.

And how you can play at night with your eyes closed.

And how you can touch your instrument as if you were touching your beloved – with the same tenderness, awe, sacred reverence…

And the act of Ada at the end of the film as well. For me it is absolutely logical and clear. A damaged instrument that needs to be buried. Bury with what died inside along with the piano. And come back to life, because there is HE. The one who understands, the one who loves … The one for whom it is worth living on.

There is something to live for, there is someone to play. On the piano.

Today I want to be silent. There is silence around me today, broken by the sounds of the keys that sound in my memory …

Sometimes it is unrealistically difficult to understand the real motives for actions or feelings of other people. And here is a fantastic opportunity. It is necessary to place a person in a special apparatus and view all the events that he has experienced: scroll back and forth like a record, concentrating as if on insignificant details.

That is, if you have lost the keys somewhere, then okay: with the help of a purposeful memory, this event can be easily restored. And you can hang on the most touching memory of life, scrolling it an infinite number of times. The picture of any crime can be reconstructed with maximum detail. The main thing is to get a living brain of the person who was present on the spot. What an opportunity for investigators! And no fraud.

A doctor-operator of such an installation (Hugh Jackman) meets a patient (Rebecca Ferguson) who suddenly blinds a cynic and a former military man. A deep passion unfolds. Everything else ceases to exist. Each fleeting movement of the breeze acquires a special meaning, each glance becomes an unforgettable romantic experience … And … here she disappears without any explanation, although the lovers planned an endless life together.

The hero is shocked. What happened? For weeks he scrolls every moment of his novel, trying to find out with the help of the installation: where did the failure occur? What is the reason for her escape? And so … Looks like he was stupidly deceived? Is the angel of God a creature spoiled by the underworld and drugs?

The assistant is in love with the hero, she tries not to add fuel to the fire. She is smart and loyal. And therefore he cannot lie. True, it turns out that the mistress opened up to the assistant for some reason before her escape.

Against the backdrop of melodrama, a post-apocalyptic picture of the world is raging: in the past some kind of war has died down, many cities are flooded, only the rich live on land, crime is off the charts, while states have survived and somehow maintain relative order. But all this is not so important. If you buy into such sketches, and psychology does not bother you, then most likely you will not get the satisfaction and expected action in the style of some ‘Mad Max’. Moreover, there are no chases, fights, skirmishes in the usual sense. They are, in general, there, but they are not the goal, but only emphasize certain experiences of the heroes.

The sad picture of a dying civilization (we are now at the beginning of this path) is decorated with a sudden outbreak of real emotions. Are they deceiving or not? Only a fantastic installation will help to understand and see the truth. Indeed, in ordinary life, it often happens that the true motivations remain hidden. Not understood.

Hugh Jackman is a genius actor. Rebecca Ferguson is a good actress. Tandive Newton (as an assistant) – great support. Lisa Joy – made her debut in directing a big movie, and she did it smoothly, stylishly, sensually. She herself wrote the script. About the impossibility of exposing feelings in the usual way. Simple motives, deep meanings.

General impression: Michael Flanegan, the screenwriter of Ghosts on the Hill (TV series), has already worked on the adaptation of Gerald’s Game, also based on the novel by Stephen King. This time I decided to take up a large-scale project called “Doctor’s Dream”, the creator fit in 151 minutes of suspense, intrigue, atmosphere.

A huge mission was assigned to his shoulders, to show not only a full-fledged story about the boy Danny, who is now a man, but also to deploy to the audience a solid canvas from the film “Shine” from Stanley Kubrick. Indeed, then, in 1980, Kubrick with a degree of perfectionism approached his work, breathing in the gloomy atmosphere of the Overluk Hotel with frightening and bewitching notes of sound. Already for Flanegan a difficult task, but did he cope? Of course, having worked in detail and written the script in a duet with King, the director was able to register the main line and wave the fans to “Shine.

You can divide the picture invisibly into three parts, in which there is an introduction of about 40 minutes – they tell what happened to Danny after he and his mother escaped from a terrible hotel. And actually, how is the name “Doctor’s Dream” connected with Danny. The grown-up Danny Torrens is played by Ewan McGregor – an ideally matched actor, who easily transforms from a person into a binge, where there is a clear transition of despair and a fight against addiction – in the future the bottle and comparison with his father are repeatedly indicated in the picture, and to a mentor friend who should help the little girl Abre, who has mystical powers of enormous proportions.

After 40 minutes, the viewer gets to know the “shining girl closer, realizing that she is a tough nut, but still a child. There are several antagonists, it’s more likely to call a whole gang – they prey on people like Danny and Abra, killing in the most cruel ways, eat children, taking away their “radiance, but Rebecca Ferguson (Rose) rightfully occupies the central solo. Her character attracts and alarms at the same time, frightening with her crazy smile, comes the understanding that a woman is ready for anything in order to achieve the goal, which is what is happening.

The cast can only be praised, that in a pair, that one by one, everyone looks in their place, carrying away with their game, which is noteworthy here, each character is frightened.

And the final chapter in a good 40 minutes, becomes a smooth transition for the viewer, taking away into the distance the road to a dark hotel. The same oppressive music, the same snow drifts, the labyrinth and howls of the wind seemed to blow back in 1980. Fans of the Shine will be pleased, because the “greetings” scattered around the hotel, like a rabbit from a hat, where you are waiting for the trick, like a little child in impatience.

The atmosphere of Doctors Dream attracts attention and skillfully switches between locations, it is a quality study of the central characters, well-chosen music that skillfully focuses on the emotions of the hero, escalating fear or a fraction of suspense. And the finale of the picture is perfect, the way it is needed, the final one, a little waltzing, it is played out with a curtsy, coming to the beginning of the tape, but still this is the end.

Flanegan definitely coped with the task, scattering everything on the shelves and beating the plot. Not really horrors, but this is the advantage of the tape, screamers already in so many different films, but here the picture nostalgically transfers to the past, it takes beautifully with the visual, focusing on the heroes and their problems. This is important for the story.

This film is traditionally considered an entertaining action movie. And for most people it is. Excellent driving razvekalovo how else to perceive it ?! Yes, for this genre everything is present here and moronic and inappropriate blunt humor and special effects, sometimes you want to rewind and watch it again, some scenes are really high-quality shots, you really believe that they can, but really computer made for actors. Well, I hope not all, of course. Mountains of testosterone and invincible beauty, all in the best traditions. The viewer is shown a large-scale attraction in which participants have incredible power. You should not believe in the possibility and truthfulness of the actions of the actors and you need to “read the film between the lines.

The scriptwriters of this film are either very knowledgeable about what awaits us in the near future and is happening now, or they themselves belong to the “elite” and prepare us for something. It is very convenient to tell in a joking form to the human mass about very serious things, the extermination of mankind, the virus, the war of good and evil, and as a result, the victory of good, how sweet, give us hope. The film was shot simultaneously in several significant countries, America, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, I think they were not chosen by chance, maybe they are at the helm of the board and someone bad someone good will destroy a weak race, and someone save.

The plot of the tape revolves around the fact that due to the unhealthy activities of some ambitious corporation who wants to create a generation of invulnerable human robots, the whole world is once again in the balance of death. And since this notorious corporation is indecently powerful, it’s not just anybody who is sent to fight against it, but super specialists – just the same Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham), whose names were included in the name of the film. Between themselves, these comrades, to put it mildly, do not get along very well, because of which the whole operation to save the world is repeatedly on the verge of collapse.

In general, the plot seems to be straightforward, but personally, I also saw a solid philosophical component behind the catchy facade of tricks. For example, the heroes voice very interesting and touching thoughts about the value of a person and his wide heart in comparison with error-free, but insensitive machines; about strength of mind and faith in oneself; about the need to do everything here and now, not putting off until later, because this “later may no longer be. Much attention is paid to family relationships, their importance in our life is emphasized. By the way, romance is also not alien to the film. Indeed, one of the main roles is played by a very pretty actress, Vanessa Kirby. Slipping “smart thoughts are often reinforced by references to great people. Honestly, I did not check whether the quotes mentioned in the film really belong to F. Nietzsche and B. Lee, but at the time of viewing this was not particularly important: the main thing was that this “cleverness seemed very appropriate to me.

The film flew very quickly, because what is happening is dynamic, noisy, everything happens in a different environment, while it is spiced with a weighty portion of jokes. But it still seemed to me that the last battle was somewhat delayed, it would be possible to curtail the battle, but as it is, it’s also good. We were shown an action movie, almost classic, but with elements of science fiction, so we should not try to look for “unrealism” here, especially since pouring people with iron filling into the plot, the movie was finally transferred to the category of science fiction.

Separately, it must be said about humor. He has a rather large role in the film. Dialogues of characters, even in the most dangerous situations, are generously seasoned with mutual “jokes” and strong expressions. This, of course, does not always look sophisticated and all the more elegant, but almost always really funny. Fans of subtle intellectual humor have a rest, because jokes do not sparkle with the versatility of a crystal glass, and sometimes they are very belly, but I personally do not cut my ear and this is the case when what is happening does not look tiring and it’s really funny.

I liked the music in the film. Fighting scenes are accompanied by hard dynamic rock or rap, and in scenes where someone pushes a thoughtful speech, soft melodies are played, under which it is not a sin to let a tear go. Also colorful and vivid turned out to be the scenes of fights, which are abundant here. Fans of this martial art can go by, this is not it. But there is a beautifully set and hurricane battles, which are one sheer pleasure to watch. In addition, there are a lot of similar furious action scenes in the film, but what is there, almost the entire film consists of fights, chases, shooting and various confrontations. Awesome movie that is perfect for evening relaxation after a hard day’s work. Not a single boring episode flashed, 2 hours fly by lightning fast, and there is not a single gram of regret about the time spent.

In general, a multifaceted film turned out to be solid. There is something to see, something to laugh about and something to reflect on. I recommend definitely for review.

The Meg. Is there a chance for a giant shark to devour Jason Statham? Place your bets.

The film is cool, what can I say. Spectacular, 3D to the place, ocean monsters (and there is not only a megalodon) as real. The plot is classic, without “that’s turning, the motivations of the heroes are standard. The director, without going particularly into the philosophy of the coexistence of man and nature, removes dynamically, inserts spectacular scenes and shots that we are looking forward to from the “shark genre (an unexpected jump from the water; a view of the dwarf from above, allowing to estimate its size; an ominous fin in the distance) . This provides the necessary level of detachment of the viewer from what is happening on the screen: yes, people are eating, but they are eating according to the laws of the genre, and sooner or later Jason State will put an end to this. Speaking of blood. The film is never trash. Before us is not a series of terrible deaths in the mouth of a sea monster, but a story about how to defeat the awakened evil. And then, when the evil face has two meters, it is not about biting / tearing with its jaws, but about swallowing, which, of course, is also scary, but not so bloody.

A specialist in deep-water engineering, or a diver, or a biologist, or simply a meticulous spectator will find in the film a mass of shoals related to diving under water and the peculiarities of the marine fauna. Perhaps it will prevent them from seeing the picture, to me – no. I will call another minus. Snot. They are not so many, but they are. Characters reflex, and some even hysterical. Moreover, these emotions are caused not by the fact of the discovery of a species considered to be extinct and not repeatedly attempted by this species to devour everything that moves. Now they are amorous things, now a lingering mourning for the deceased, then sheer harmony with themselves and the world after dozens of deaths. If you alternate rapidly evolving events with snotty scenes (used as a term), give me strong emotions, interesting and, if possible, “adult characters who make responsible decisions. And no one is more interesting than the megalodon in the film, alas, no. So his, darling, and show.

After crushing a Zealot revolt led by Barabbas, Clavius, a Roman Tribune, is appointed by Pontius Pilate to investigate the rumors of a risen Jewish Messiah. Pilate orders him to locate the missing body of Yeshua. In doing so, Pilate seeks to quell an imminent uprising in Jerusalem during the first 40 days following Christ’s crucifixion.[4] Failing to secure Yeshua’s body, Clavius attempts to locate his disciples for clues to his disappearance.

During a raid through a Jewish enclave, Clavius unexpectedly discovers a seemingly resurrected Yeshua with his apostles in a solitary abode. Clavius calls off the search; he disperses his troops without revealing to them his personal encounter with the risen Yeshua. Having abandoned Roman polytheism and the god Mars, Clavius later joins Yeshua and his followers on a journey to determine the validity of his mortal rejuvenation.

Pilate deduces that Clavius has apparently betrayed him, and dispatches a contingent of Roman troops to pursue him and Yeshua. Clavius assists the disciples in evading the Roman search party; he consequently witnesses the healing of a leper, and then the ascension of Yeshua into Heaven. Later, communicating his travels to a stranger in a remote dwelling, Clavius acknowledges the vivifying wisdom which he observed through Yeshua, feeling he will never be the same.
