According to David, whom the guest introduced himself, the son died in front of his eyes, and the last thing he asked was to convey the words of love to his relatives, and David, as a faithful friend, kept his promise. Despite the visible dissatisfaction of the daughter and the quarrel with her husband, the mother of the deceased could not help leaving her son’s friend with her, but David was waiting for this …

As the poster says, ‘be careful who you let into your home.’ This phrase is the main meaning of the film. No matter how nice and kind the guest is, no matter who he introduces himself, no matter what he says, no matter what he puts pressure on, you cannot trust completely and completely. In the film, the maternal instinct worked, when a mother, who lost her child, especially in the war, tries to cover the bitterness of the loss thanks to at least some information from the lips of those who were with him in the last minutes, and the main character is cunning and took advantage of this … It is a very real situation, possible, thus plausible.

At the expense of the dynamics, I can’t say that this film can boast of this, but I was not bored, even, on the contrary, constant tension, some kind of mysterious atmosphere, just as mysterious as this Guest, who looks nice and kind in public, but as soon as everyone walks out the door, he becomes terribly brooding and, frankly, angry. And this is entirely the merit of Dan Stevens. To my regret, I have not seen any work where he would have been in the first roles, but here .. but here he worked perfectly! Simply gorgeous! There are two people in one body! I believe!!! People are captivated by his appearance, manners and warmth, downright radiated from him, but if you don’t follow him, he becomes a truly scary person! A kind of mixture of Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper. I would be glad to see him in other films. Among other actors, I will only note Mike Monroe: there is something in her, but she still needs to work on expressing emotions.

Another guarantee of the right atmosphere was the correct soundtrack. The same gloomy, gray, old-school or something. In general, what you need. There are no complaints about the schedule, and those that exist can be attributed to an obviously not the most solid budget.

Adam Wingard, to be honest, surprised. After the second-rate, boring horror films, he turned out to be a strong film in its own way (unless the ending can say otherwise). But, of course, the main trump card of the film is Dan Stevens, who played flawlessly. I looked with interest.

It seems that the attraction of the cinema becomes a thousand times stronger when the good old (and also beloved) story unfolds on the big screen and returns in a new, promising scale and magnificence format. Therefore, at the first opportunity, it pulls you to sit comfortably in an armchair, where, after relaxing, you may be able to feel the very emotions that excited and occupied your soul in childhood. Of course, one does not enter the same water twice; everyone knows this. But the hope that the anticipated cinematic action in a beautiful way suddenly turns out to be no worse (or even several times better) of the animated original, so beautifully shots from the trailer and big names in the credits so powerfully.

But in reality, everything is much more prosaic. Literally a few frames following the traditional Disney screensaver will soon descend from heaven to earth – and you suddenly realize: the new format with its technologically advanced decorations and grandiose attractions does not promise the reincarnation of the soul of a cartoon fairy tale classic. Yes, the same plot with the necessary splashes and additions for the big screen, the same heroes, the same story, but already played on the stage, thoroughly saturated with current trends. So, black princesses skillfully dancing at the prince’s ball no, no, yes, and they will remind you of the ubiquitous tolerance, which is sometimes not obligatory at all, but it breaks all the same. And the taste is not the same. Not fabulous. It seems that the look of Belle herself, whose scruffy and obsessive panties looking under the dress evokes a sense of dissonance, does not in any way adore the extraordinary work of the costumers, this smack is about to make it a little bit more delicate. Fortunately, soon all the unnecessary, annoying nuances that break out of the general picture dissolve, and the fairy tale itself comes to the fore. And here everything is win-win, everything is in the hands of small viewers: effects, surroundings, the characters themselves and their background, music, easy humor. Therefore, it is somewhat puzzling that vilely imperceptibly rolling feeling that behind all the golden sparkling zilch that strikes right in the eyes, behind all the perfectly calibrated magic of the castle, mesmerizing with its appearance and all the charm of the main characters, there will not be a truly valuable and significant core. Instead, it is presented in impeccable and sustained in the best traditions of Disney to the impossibility, to annoying corrosivity sweet, almost sugary, all-encompassing triumph of kindness and happiness (exclusively in white, with a blue sky and green grass in the background, and with flowers in the hair). But is it really a misfortune when it comes to a fairy tale? .. That is why, perhaps, it doesn’t make anyone particularly meticulously meet and thoroughly dissect the film Beauty and the Beast. The framework of the genre itself does not just condescendingly justify any flaws, but only makes excessive criticism pointless. The picture is unlikely to occupy an exceptional place among those called classics or aerobatics, but it can undoubtedly deliver a certain portion of pleasure (especially aesthetic) (even if only once), especially to children (so imagine how ridiculous, how inappropriate, how comical in this case, the rating looks +16!).

Satisfied with two-hour magic and the magic of love, casting aside emotions and lying down to pacify expectations, it remains to note for the viewer who is determined to watch: the film “Beauty and the Beast of the sample of 2017 is not the surest way to give free rein to nostalgia, if you are among adults, but a great opportunity to plunge into a fairy-tale world, admire the riot of colors and feelings, not especially diving deep into history itself, which guarantees a carefree pastime in front of a large screen if you are young creatures (the presence of youth exclusively spiritual is also nice).

The film “Call of the Ancestors” remained virtually unnoticed in Russian cinemas. But in vain, Chris Sanders did a great and high-quality work on this film. I myself did not know about the existence of this film before I saw it at the box office, and decided to go, as a fan of the works of Jack London.

1. The script

As I have said many times and will continue to say, a good script is even more than half a good film. This film was full of different plot twists. It was colorful and varied, this is of course the merit of Jack London, and the scriptwriters at that time made excellent dialogues in which there was meaning and interest. But in this film, actions and emotions are more important than dialogue. It is a huge job to come up with different emotions that explain the mood and intentions of the dog. And in fact, it’s worth the effort to make such a movie, to think through every detail so that everything is logical everywhere. Therefore, my gratitude to the scriptwriters for the work done 10/10.

2. Special effects.

With special effects, too, everything is fine. Let’s start with Beck, firstly, it would be very difficult to shoot a real dog, and probably even impossible and it would hardly be such emotions. Secondly, Back turned out to be cool, realistic and emotional. therefore, the creators did everything right. Very often I even forgot that this is not a living dog. Again, referring to emotions, everything is done at the highest level, this is a tremendous work of editors, I believed Beck’s every emotion. I don’t know which shots were shot live and which weren’t, they were all like real, so natural and alive, that’s the scale of the work done. I put this point clearly 10/10.

3. Actors and dubbing

All the actors played well, but everyone except Harrison Ford and Dan Stevens, known to us from the Legion and the remake of “Beauty and the Beast, sometimes had the wrong emotions or reactions, but it was invisible so I was very nitpicked. Harrison Ford is great, I believed and sympathized with him, and my words will be confirmed by the tears of the audience in the audience, the role of Dan Stevens turned out to be quite interesting, the crazy nut on gold, forgetting about humanity, becomes dumber and dumber, I can only applaud his game. Fortunately, the Russian voice acting did not disappoint me. For such a game, you can bet 9/10.

4. Humor

This film really does not need humor, or rather, probably, any film needs ridiculous moments, not even necessarily ridiculous just some embarrassing, and there were funny moments and they performed exactly those functions that they should. Therefore, due to the uselessness of humor here, and the completely fulfilled task of the available moments with a calm soul, I put 10/10

5. Atmosphere

The atmosphere is incredible, sitting in a movie theater, you find yourself on ice, in a green and beautiful forest madly, in a blue river like sky, in a pack of dogs, in a pack of wolves and all this is so natural and beautiful that your eyes just explode with all these landscapes. The music was also perfectly matched, everything was in the theme, each note emphasized the mood and condition of the characters. Thanks to the creators for such an incredible adventure, 10/10.

6. The moral.

In terms of morality, this film has clearly succeeded. He teaches a lot of both young spectators and adults. A third of the film raises the theme of the collective, the unity of the collective is the key to success for all its participants, in the collective they fall together, rise as one, too, with the help of justice, kindness, sometimes even perseverance, you can become the “leader of the pack, so to speak.

Chris Sanders film is a very soulful film with an ideal script, with wonderful and natural effects, with a good game, with incredible views, great music, and the right morality, which are still relevant today.
