A story in which Superman loses everything – friends, parents, wife, lifestyle, beliefs, reputation, his own city with the entire population, in the end. Not only exciting and tense, but at the same time multifaceted and controversial, raising the very insidious questions of superhero morality and non-resistance to evil. It is extremely annoying that the comic plot, which would have been more than enough for the directors for a dozen sequels, for some unknown reason, it was decided to cut off on escalation and present it in a finished, but extremely cut down version in this animated film. But nevertheless, it was not done so badly, and here there is something to talk about.

‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ is, as is now often the case with DC animation, as interesting as it is a controversial project, in this case disappointing primarily at the level of expectations, and not as such. This is generally a good, albeit mediocre cartoon, whose main flaw is endless fading and flatness when correlating it with the story told in the comics.

It is impossible to avoid comparisons with the original here, because, like Superman: Red Son of 2020, this picture closely follows the plot of the original source, it should only be so that at some point, uncompromisingly, say goodbye to it, instead offering your version of events. which destroys the original idea of ​​the work, the portraits and the behavioral model of the characters, the plot ending and its conclusions, in the end.

For the story about the villainous Superman from Soviet Russia, this is many times more legitimate and painful reproach, but for Injustice it is, so to speak, fair. If you try to summarize what is wrong here, you get the following: the film undertakes to show everything, but does not show the main thing. Following the comic canvas, the cartoon takes us through all the main events that caused Superman’s fall to despotism and cruelty. But due to the ridiculous duration and the abundance of events that the work can accommodate, the shown looks very superficial and unconvincing. Where comics allotted many pages for the exposition, the gradual movement towards conflict and different angles of view on it, the morale of the characters and the changes in them, in the animated film there is only a naked skeleton of the plot, according to which the characters stupidly move in the frame, without showing any reflection or any other manifestations of living consciousness. And if the compositional scenes from the film really correspond to those from the comics, then there is little meaningful left of them, and therefore Harley Queen, morally crushed by the death of her idol, but still capable of touching melancholic jokes, as she was in the original, turns into simply mischievous a fool who does not even remember why she should be sad at all.

This is practically everything here – idiots in the UN, feebly applauding the usurper who has declared his power over them; the silent obedience of some heroes and the complete elimination of others from the narrative; Nightwing, which is an example of a situation where screenwriters try to come up with something of their own, but it turns out to be nonsense; Superman himself, who is the worst in this movie. So much worse that Batman here experiences twenty times more emotions from the loss of a partner than Superman from the death of his beloved wife and the death of Metropolis. It’s just laughter. Instead of living, human reactions, the whole film he reads his script with an indifferent expression on his face, as a result of which one can even forget that everything that happens began with the loss of this bad actor’s wife – this is so unimportant for the film this event, its emotional or declarative response. And when emotions nevertheless overtake the hero of the drama, then only in order to kill someone in the agony of rage – the cartoon does not have complex and contradictory characters for you, only a one-dimensional maniac, which, it seems, has always been that way. Only Batman manages to look like an interesting, adequate and charming character, but rather his own nature obliges him to be so.

Therefore, the final verdict of ‘Injustice’ is unconvincing, unreliability of what has been shown – there is a tragedy here, but its importance is not felt; there is a world, but there is no impression that someone lives in it; heroes move along the plot, but without any lifelike. Static pictures with ovals for text have learned to tell polysyllabic and dramatic epics, and in the animated film they spared a dozen frames for Superman’s facial expressions in order to integrate him at least a little into what was happening. How to call it, if not mediocrity.

But although in the context of drama everything is sad here, ‘Injustice’ also has significant merits. Although, due to the completely copied introduction, some elements of the plot do not make sense, but on the whole this is an adequate complete story, which was not possible for the ‘Red Son’, for example. The ending, invented for the cartoon, is a certain convention and is rather naive, but it is not bad, and could well appear in a similar comic. The visual style is interesting, acting as a reference to the style of the same original comics. The Joker, which for obvious reasons is not enough here, also left a pleasant impression. And, most importantly, even with the indicated shortcomings, which are very significant, it is still interesting to watch, because of the fast pace of the narration and even a certain intrigue. A controversial but interesting cartoon, which, of course, could have been much better, but which would not be superfluous to watch.

Neil Blomkamp returns four years after his high-profile film debut, which not only brought the creators a solid profit, but also received high marks from both ordinary viewers and film industry professionals. ‘District 9’ was quite original, ‘Elysium’, which received much more substantial financial injections, is original to a lesser extent – Blomkamp here follows the paths traditional for utopian fiction; but at the same time it creates a bright and memorable world, throwing all the powers of the imagination to work out its details. Considering that high-quality genre fiction does not appear on the screens so often, the film looks doubly attractive.

The action takes place in the not too distant future, in which the depleted Earth turned into one continuous dilapidated ghetto with an off-scale level of crime; and the “powerful” left the planet, creating a kind of elite “republic” on a huge orbital station, the name of which served as the title of this story. The beginning of the film relishes to its fullest the footage of the brown Earth slums and the constant migration of an impoverished population. After a short prologue about the hero’s childhood, the picture shows us the image of an adult Max played by the shaven-headed Matt Damon – a hero who seems to have decided to finally tie up with his criminal past; which, however, is unlikely to result in any significant benefit for him in the existing order of things. The plot paints a gigantic chasm between the two classes of society, making it clear that the elite of Elysium have done absolutely everything to “keep the working class in check.” The Earthlings here are a plentiful but cheap labor force, and none of the ruling elite seriously think about giving them any rights or powers. First of all, they do not have access to high-tech medical equipment that can solve any health problem – this can be seen as a kind of birth control method on an already overpopulated planet. From time to time, someone desperate makes sorties on illegal space transport to the satellite, so that, with luck, they can get to the medical capsule and improve their health, or the health of their child, so that later, after imminent deportation, they can live on the dying planet a little longer. Blomkamp consistently outlines all aspects of the society he invented; in some places, however, it is too schematic and straightforward. However, when, after watching, you start to dig deeper and check the entire presented concept for the presence of reasonable logic, you understand that there is practically nothing to complain about here. As in any action movie, here, in some places, there are small flaws with regards to the behavior of the heroes in a particular situation – but the general movement of the plot and the shown concept of the world do not cause complaints. But you shouldn’t think that all this social subtext somehow pulls the blanket over yourself. It’s just a skeleton (albeit a little more meaningful than the average genre) that here provides a solid foundation for mind-blowing visuals and furious action sequences. The director is not trying to read morals here; if only because the social motives are too obvious here, and they don’t feel like revelation. This is just one of the elements of the concept, and nothing more – and such an approach suggests that there can be no speculation on the topic here.

From the first frames of the picture, Neil Blomkamp gives an idea of himself as a talented artist – but the further his plot develops, the more clearly you can feel his love for the fantasy genre as such. There are many different elements that make you remember the real classics of the genre (from ‘Blade Runner’ to ‘Robocop’); including an almost ‘licked’ moment from the legendary ‘Total Recall’ with Schwarzenegger – and this is exactly the case when such ‘borrowing’ does not cause any negative emotions at all, but on the contrary, gives off warm light nostalgia. And all this despite the fact that the director in every possible way avoids comic and farce, without resorting to excessive irony. In this respect, this serious attitude is somewhat diluted by Kruger performed by Sharlto Copley – his dialogue with Max with the phrase ‘The weather is good for flights’ deserves a separate mention, of course. Copley here clearly created one of the most striking and winning images. As for Matt Damon – I, once again, want to take off my hat to this wonderful actor who can ‘read the script between the lines’ and bring genuine sincerity and personality to the image.

It is worth noting that the film starts off rather slowly – and at the beginning the spectacular picture clearly dominates the dynamics. Blomkamp’s ingenuity as a visionary is, of course, undeniable – but the concentration of action in the first half is quite negligible. Without any haste, all the heroes are introduced to us, and they show a plot, which, on good, should be competently distributed over a much more voluminous timing than the one we have. However, there is a confident movement forward with a gradual increase in drive and without any sagging; right up to an extremely rich and powerful ending. Well, and a special mention, as well as praise to the director, deserves the fact that the film does not look on its budget – it looks at least twice as expensive.

Storyline
Tony Stark. Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. Son of legendary inventor and weapons contractor Howard Stark. When Tony Stark is assigned to give a weapons presentation to an Iraqi unit led by Lt. Col. James Rhodes, he’s given a ride on enemy lines. That ride ends badly when Stark’s Humvee that he’s riding in is attacked by enemy combatants. He survives – barely – with a chest full of shrapnel and a car battery attached to his heart. In order to survive he comes up with a way to miniaturize the battery and figures out that the battery can power something else. Thus Iron Man is born. He uses the primitive device to escape from the cave in Iraq. Once back home, he then begins work on perfecting the Iron Man suit. But the man who was put in charge of Stark Industries has plans of his own to take over Tony’s technology for other matters.

Although the witty “Kiss Will Fly Through and returned the brilliant actor Robert Downey Jr. from oblivion, it was Iron Man who turned him into a world-class star. After the release of John Favreau’s film, Downey Jr. the attention of many studio bosses was concentrated and from that moment he did not know the shortage of proposals. And that’s why…

Hollywood’s unquenchable interest in large-scale productions of film comics, which began in 2000, after the release of People X by Brian Singer, also reached a character named Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). Stark is a character in the Marvel Universe, and one of her most influential characters, it should be noted. Billionaire, futurist, technology genius, alcoholic and playboy, Tony Stark and without his aller ego, in the person of Iron Man, seems to be an extremely interesting person. A person who would be entrusted with playing this role (especially considering the large-scale project) could well count on gaining immense popularity among modern viewers (as happened with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine from People X) and Toby Maguire (Spider-Man). And how pleasant it is that this man was none other than Robert Downey Jr.

Choice Downey Jr. for the role, was a key step towards the success of the “ZhCh”. His Tony Stark is endlessly charismatic, combines the mind of a brilliant scientist and an irresponsible child. Daini ml. just magnificent in this role, you can’t imagine anyone else who could deal with her as naturally and naturally as he did. The stark and impudent behavior of Stark delight the viewer, this character is so good on the screen. At the same time, Stark goes through a complete re-awareness of his life, without losing his exceptional charm.

Of course, the film was originally destined to revolve around a star – Robert Downey Jr., but the director – John Favreau was not too lazy and involved other great actors in his film. Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark’s modest but pagan assistant, Pepper Potts, Jeff Bridges, acting as a business colleague in the field of arms production Obaday Stein, Terence Howard, as a true friend and colleague of Colonel James Rhodes and of course Favreau, who appeared on the screen as Stark’s friend and bodyguard is Happy Hogan. Agree the list of names is more than impressive. And all these actors proudly bring their professionalism to the film, not taking away the attention of the “rock star Downey Jr. Separately, we note a character named Agent Coulson performed by Clark Gregg (who could then know how important he will be in the future movie – the Marvel Universe).

It is very pleasing that at ZhCh they allowed us to see with our own eyes the formation of the hero, under what circumstances Stark had a desire to combine his chic life with the burden of saving the innocent. The script in the “HF” is strong and logical. There is a story twist (though not very unexpected). The film has amazing dialogs, which only additionally gives the game Downey Jr. brightness.

With the action component of “ZhC”, too, everything is in order. In his suit, Stark manages to go to more than one mess, both on the ground and in the air, and it looks “excellent. It is worth noting the chic design of the final suit of Stark, it looks very impressive.

Action film star-80th and 90th age and gradually lose their physical form, but it does not put an end to their “explosive” career. This year brought three whole picture, forcing re-think worn tapes and indestructible heroes: “Return of the Hero” – a welcome and enchanting revival of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “The Expendables” – a stern, plunging into a dark criminal atmosphere thriller led by Sylvester Stallone, and now it the time of uniting efforts, and, to unite the heroes were conceived in the 80’s, but only now they have succeeded. And it, by the way, for the better. The first (Schwartz) appear only in supporting roles and quickly echoes with a second (Sly), which, though a year appears on the screen, but the relevance of today won thanks to the creation of a group “The Expendables.”

Many fighters falling through and you need to prove in the 80-90-s, the same path, when the genre firmly captivated audiences of all ages, but the “Escape Plan Ultra HD” – newly gift, a tribute to the masters of the genre, which is to be seen now and experience the pleasant nostalgic.

The atmosphere of the picture itself is somewhat different. A technically equipped prison is a futuristic sign that is slightly inappropriate to militants according to old concepts. This movie UHD undoubtedly jumped higher in its atmosphere than other representatives. “Escape Plan 2160p” openly talks about the end of the 90th, on the increase in popularity of prisons in action movies, and, just heroes Sylvester Stallone after a crazy grinder are in prison, and thence running. To say that Stallone, an escapist, is an ambiguous phrase characterizing both the character of the new film and his previous roles. Arnold Schwarzenegger is independent here and all references to the past have no place to be. This is a serious, in some sense a dark and pessimistic movie where time is devoted to humor a little, and if he is present, there is no doubt, rough and prison.

But the “Escape Plan 4K” skillfully balances between the original, completely free action movie and, of course, the subject of pleasant memories.
