The movie, made me think of the 1993 picture Good Son, also about child cruelty. And it shocked me no less than the aforementioned one. I couldn’t sleep for a long time. Specially registered on the site to speak out.

Let me repeat the word shock, which appears in other reviews, but I can’t find another word. To write that I liked it, my fingers do not obey. Can a normal person like to watch the suffering and martyrdom, even if it is a movie hero. After watching it, I found myself forgetting that it was just a movie. Happening on the screen, captured and kept in suspense and empathy for the young married couple, from the first scene of their meeting with a gang of teenagers.

Yes, it’s wild. Yes, violent. Yes, I wanted the movie to end more happily, like the aforementioned ‘Good Son’. We’re used to seeing evil punished in most movie endings. But in life, alas, it’s not like that. Are there not enough horrifying moments, terrible crimes, we see almost every day in the criminal chronicles? Are few people die, few destinies are broken at the hands of juvenile and adult subhumans?

In my opinion, a very competent, real, without emphasis on the display of bloody scenes, as in the classic ‘horror’ movie. As it is – so it is.

Once in America, occupied by cheap video rentals, a young boy named Quentin, who was already in love with the magic of cinema, watched a second-rate Italian military action movie under the original name ‘Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato’ (‘Devil’s Armored Train’), in which only good was a frivolous attitude to the Second World War, and the monstrous power of the title ‘Inglourious Basterds’, hastily issued to the film for distribution in the United States and deeply entrenched in the mind of the future director.

Become ambitious enough to start writing the script of his own ‘Bastards’, Tarantino managed only in 97th year, when he already had all those films behind him, for which they still love him. As it turned out during the development of the plot, Quentin even had too many ideas in his head – at some stages the Bastards began to grow into a full-fledged mini-series. However, after a landmark dinner with Luc Besson, it was nevertheless decided to throw out all unnecessary storylines and confine ourselves to a full meter.

Due to the fact that the concept of the film has changed regularly over the course of eight years, there is no real titular character in ‘Bastards’. Tarantino himself thought it would be a young Frenchwoman Shoshanna Dreyfus (but the aggressive bride Uma Thurman put an end to the theme of ‘vengeful woman’ in his work) film), but in fact, the very glue that does not allow the picture to fall to pieces is the unhealthy gravitation towards dairy products, Standartenführer Hans Landa.

However, the absence of a general storyline, Tarantino himself, if not invented, then did it anew in his debut works, so you will not surprise anyone with such a turn of affairs. In ‘Bastards’, however, the story is much simpler and does not have any temporal and geographical leaps. There are five chapters here in a well-organized sequence. Three groups of characters: funny and cruel Jews, the British with a ‘bar in the globe’ and a vengeful French woman with her Negro projectionist. They all have one goal and one opposing force in the person of the witty “hunter of the Jews.” As a result, all this, as it should be, will be reduced to a twenty-minute finale, located somewhere beyond the edge of madness and courage.

If someone, for some reason for himself, assumed that Inglourious Basterds was such a “historical thriller” or “war movie,” he seriously missed his expectations. As such, there is no action or epic military sketches. Fascists go to the cinema for stupid propaganda films, shoot young French women and jam schnapps in basements. Jews practice polyglotism, play Indians, and have nightmares for people in gray uniforms. And Standartenführer Hans Landa just talks a lot with everyone.

If you try to describe ‘Bastards’ in a few words, it turns out that this is an extremely calm two and a half hours of florid and witty dialogues in four languages: German, English, Italian and French – Tarantino’s unique conversational magic has become a truly international heritage. There are scenes of shooting and swearing too, but they are rare bright flashes in the leisurely narrative manner generally accepted here.

The historical accuracy of Tarantino is only interested in until it starts to conflict with his own fantasy, so many things in ‘Bastards’ happen not because it really was in the forties, but because it looks very cool on the screen. So the Jews here behave like Apaches, the Frenchwoman easily remembers the face of her offender through a thin gap in the floor, the first-class German actress drinks with the officers in some incomprehensible basement, and Hitler is just a caricatured unbalanced idiot with a pathetic couple of people on guard. Therefore, there is no smell of boring historical doom in the style of the recent Singer’s ‘Valkyrie’, five minutes before the final credits it begins to seem that the unexpected appearance of aliens would look appropriate in Tarantino.

As for Brad Pitt, he is simply monumental here. With a grin, it seems, stolen from Marlon Brando and completely unique Italian. One thing is bad – there is not enough of it on the screen, but the main acting work in the film still belongs not to him, but to the polyglot Christoph Waltz, who threw his SS man Land to some absolutely transcendental heights of depth and elaboration (down to the slightest finger gestures). Eli Roth is best remembered for his devilish facial expressions and authorship of the fictional film Pride of the Nation. Quentin’s taste for female beauty has not disappeared either: the images of the plaster heel on the leg of Diane Kruger and the flaming face of Melanie Laurent remain in memory for a long time.

With the release of each of his new films, Tarantino is sure to be publicly flogged. And over and over again, someone considers it necessary to say that Quentin, they say, has completely written out, filmed, directed, slipped into mediocrity, and the times of his triumphs are forever gone. But for now, the cult director, despite everything, continues to look everywhere for inspiration, maintain confidence, sparkle in his eyes and make films exclusively for himself, which are shown in cinemas as if only so that this ‘music plays forever’.

Even taking into account, perhaps, the most grandiose finale in Tarantino’s career, Inglourious Basterds is more like a kind of exercise in skill than a complete picture from all sides. It is pleasant to realize that this exercise is performed perfectly well, and the maestro still dashingly manages to play verbal ping-pong with the audience. Before going on the ‘Inglourious Basterds’, it is important to realize that the best is still the worst enemy of the good, and we can somehow manage without the new ‘Reservoir Dogs’, but not without Tarantino.

The case when it is absolutely unclear what happened to those people who two years ago made a positive rating of 91% to “Days of Future Past”, and now give average or low ratings to the sequel, which has absorbed all the best that came before. But to hell with them, it doesn’t matter. Before us, in all respects, is a worthy continuation of the beloved series of films about mutants, which is still capable of captivating and immersing in its history headlong.

Since we are living a year full of movie comics premieres, whatever one may say, we cannot avoid comparisons with other releases that have not yet disappeared from our heads. Moreover, just a couple of weeks ago, another product was launched based on the Marvel comics about a superhero team, which surpassed almost all imaginable expectations. I will not say that Brian Singer’s picture is better than the third “The First Avenger” – in fact, these are quite different films. And before you confront them with each other, you need to understand that each of them has different values.

Confrontation was a kind of work on mistakes, starting a new phase in the Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe, and reinforcing the opinion that the Russo brothers did not in vain replace Joss Whedon as director of the next Avengers, and are able to cope with a story that featured dozens of characters. “Apocalypse” is a kind of “return to the family.” Brian Singer does not hide the fact that he became akin to this story and its characters, and his sentimentality shows how important it is for him to continue the storylines of Professor X, Magneto and others. From here comes a stronger drama and acting in his hands, and at the same time more emotional empathy for mutants than the same Captain America or Iron Man. On the other hand, the 20th Century Fox franchise is noticeably trampling on one place: it is not surprising that many viewers are simply tired of the repetitive theme raised in almost every episode by the same characters: “Which side to choose for people with extraordinary abilities in the world, where are they afraid, do not understand and try in every possible way to remove or use? ”

Here you can add excerpts from the lives of the heroes that have already been shown and disclosed earlier – maybe it’s time to stop, recruit a new cast of characters (of which there are still a great many in stock), and lead them forward? However, it is still pleasant to watch them. Moreover, when the newcomers selected for the party of young familiar heroes fit in perfectly and sincerely delight (Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Cody Smith-McPhee are simply wonderful). Well, and to be honest – the cameo of the same guy who has appeared in one image on the screen 7 times in the last 16 years is still capable of causing a storm of delight. And Singer, in turn, kills two birds with one stone – shows how it was necessary to remove the screwed up origin “X-Men: The Beginning. Wolverine “(missed the spirit of Logan’s dark flashbacks in the second part?) And makes an amazing nod to the relationship of several of the most important characters in the franchise.

As for the new main villain, played by Oscar Isaac, the worst was expected of him. In fact, it turned out to be a quite worthy antagonist, who, perhaps, became not an impressive embodiment of evil, but a catalyst for significant changes. But the main advantage of the cast, and at the same time, the heart of the film is Eric Lehnsherr performed by Michael Fassbender. He is no longer the rival of Xavier that he used to be, and does not go out of his way to prove to the world that the future belongs to mutants. First of all, this is a tired and confused person who has experienced a lot of grief in his lifetime.

Perhaps some events in the film obey the laws of cartoon logic when it comes to, for example, action scenes or the appearance and joining of new mutants in the squad of horsemen of the Apocalypse, but this does not spoil the overall picture. The mere demonstrations of the abilities of the hero Evan Peters (Mercury) turn the film into a real celebration. You just need to surrender to the heady atmosphere of the 80s and the formation of the team in the best traditions of comics and the beloved animated series from the 90s.

In general, if the names Scott, Jean, Charles, Eric, Raven, Logan and Storm (it seems that they never gave Ororo her real name) thrill you, and you have respect for the films of Brian Singer and Matthew Vaughn, then “X-Men: Apocalypse” should give everything you need. Don’t pass by.

I don’t even know where to start my review of this film, well, for example, I watched this film about 7 times and, to be honest, I would have watched it again. Yes, as you understand, I personally really liked the film. Before watching this movie, I read many reviews and reviews, in which some praised, while others, on the contrary, said that it does not correspond to historical truth. In my opinion, the film does not particularly pretend to be a historical genre, I would attribute it more to comics, as in principle it was filmed. Yes, that’s right, the film was based on Frank Miller’s comics.

A few words about the plot of the film. The film ‘300 Spartans’ tells the story of the Greco-Persian War, and begins with the story of Sparta and its warriors. The events take place during the reign of King Leonidas by Sparta and tell about how the Spartans were brought up from an early age. In the film, I liked the scene when the envoys of Persia, who offered Leonidas to surrender Sparta voluntarily, without a fight, are thrown into a well. And even earlier, the scene of Leonid’s fight with a wolf, but they painted such a wolf cub to niche. The battles were also famously staged, very impressive and beautiful, and in general the film does not suffer from a lack of special effects.

If you want to watch a colorful movie and do not really think about the historical data – the film ‘300 Spartans’ is what you need. Those who watched the ‘first film’ (1962) – this adaptation may not like it. There will be an effect like saying first impression or first viewing. When, for example, you watch a film for the first time with one actor, and then the same film with another, the perception is not the same.

The final chapter of the movie universe about mutant superheroes was released. Of course, after the Apocalypse and Logan, the public expected an explosion, literacy, scale and originality. With something, the Phoenix got to the point, but not with everything.

I’ll start with the positive aspects – this is, first and foremost, a picture. Beautiful battles in the good old style of “People X”, accurate work with special effects and high-quality graphics. Immediately drive, dynamics and frequent, but justified slow-mo. It is felt that a master was standing behind the camera, namely Mauro Fiore (Avatar, Living Steel, Left-Handed). Add the music from above by Hans Zimmer, who worked, as always, for 100% and chic editing, “caressing the audience’s eye from Lee Smith (“The Dark Knight, “The Beginning, “Interstellar, “Dunkirk).

It is worth noting the strongest cast, led by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, as well as Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Holt and the newcomer to the world of comics, Jessica Chastain. Separately, I want to say about Sophie Turner. For me, the young actress proved that she does not plan to stay Sansa Stark forever, and is able to move on. Honestly, no complaints.

Let’s go to the minuses: these are extremely weak dialogues of heroes; stamp on stamp, everything is too pathetic, naive, down to earth and moments are very stupid. It can be seen that in the replicas “a whole bucket of water is poured”, sometimes the same thought is chewed by the characters a hundred times. In addition, the antagonists of the film seemed empty to me. Somehow they are lazily spelled out: ordinary, with an extremely strange kind of murder, not inspiring fear, albeit having a motive.

Well, of course, I will move on to the saddest fragment of the picture. FEMINISM – where would we be without him? When Mystic said it was time to rename the team to Women X … I had a heart attack. They got to such franchises. It’s not even the gathering of all Marvel heroines on the same stage in the Avengers finale – at least it was epic, even if it’s immediately clear what’s what. But that, this is no longer funny!

Song to Song 4K Review
It is so beautifully thought film, that it almost seems like an improvisation. Very deep, captivating and honest film leading me to the only question while i was watching it: How old is Malick? I mean, inside? He may be 70 years old, but his films speak about universal feelings. “Song to song” is not a conventional film with a conventional story. It’s more of a sad and confessional experience, more of a feeling, an emotion long kept inside, finally made into a form of art.

It’s a film about the characters and their constant battle with themselves. The things we don’t see, the hell that goes through one’s mind, when one is suffering. They are struggling to get better, but it’s so sad because we know they won’t. They can’t get out. It’s about the spiritual journey of the characters and not so much about the story. It only goes where the character goes emotionally. Malick doesn’t care about the world around the characters or the society. The only worlds “well build” in the film are the character’s worlds. That’s why the V.O doesn’t seem like a technical intervention. It is the core of this beautiful, nostalgic and emotional poem to the ones who are “destined” to suffer.

Maybe we don’t see all of this, cause this is not a modern film and our society doesn’t deal with emotions anymore. But i don’t thing Malick cares for any of this. He literally makes a film for himself, to try to free himself from his feelings and put it into something useful and creative.

The point is, it’s not a film to be liked or disliked, cause we, the people can’t wait to judge something, and not to try to understand it first. You may just not connect to it. That’s it. It’s not a memorable film and it won’t be, cause after people saw “The tree of life”, now they get bored with his concept of filmmaking, seeing all of his films like a sequel to it. I found it as more of a pattern that he found to be able to express himself constantly, by really focusing on his emotions and very honestly and artistically opening his soul to the audience to see it. And why not and judge it. 9/10

He changed everything …

I saw all the parts of the X-Men! I adore each of them, because without these films I would die of boredom when I was sick about two years ago. And so, in the summer of last year the film “Wolverine: Immortal” was shown in cinemas. Having looked at it, I thought that the whole idea was exhausted. But I was wrong …

To begin with, when I found out about a good mark for this film at the Film Search, I bought movie tickets. I watched the movie in 3D, along with my friend. After the session, all that I could say about this film, I set out in one word – “masterpiece”.

The idea itself is simply excellent! X-Men are fighting against mutant robots that their super powers can copy. Good fellow Simon! Good for Jane! Good for Matthew! In the end, an excellent idea followed the excellent further development of the plot.

The plot turned out to be excellent, as I said, because of a great idea. In 2023, the “Guardians” (these are what I call “mutant robots”) went mad and began to destroy not only mutants, but ordinary people, and the whole world. Surviving people and mutants are in concentration camps, but there is an X-Men team that resists. Among them there is the Ice Man, Colossus, Warpathch, Blink, Sanspot, Professor X, Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, Ghost Cat and Bishop. But soon, they realize that they can not win such a strong enemy and decide to send Wolverine to the past in order not to let the Mystic (Raven) kill the scientist who made the “Guardians”, then people will think that the mutants are good and will reject the project. Next adventures of Wolverine begin in 1973.

The film is worth going to 4k! Then you will get an unforgettable experience, although even if you look at the film not in 4K, you will still enjoy (I personally, if I want to revise it later, but I want to, although I’ve already looked at it twice, I can use a UHD TV). So 3D effects are another huge plus of the movie!

Special effects in the film are simply stunning! When viewing, I guarantee you such “side effects” as pleasure, surprise and shock. Steep fireballs, flying icebergs, portals, shots, explosions, flares and all this looks amazing! In addition to all the pluses of the film I have listed, I want to add an excellent atmosphere, a great musical accompaniment and a good work of the director. I also add that the film is very spectacular.

So I reached the actors. The cast is pleased, I will sing out Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Nicholas Holt, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McEvoy. I can not distinguish anybody else, but the rest of the actors played well too!

As a result, the film “X-Men: Days of the Past” was a real masterpiece of cinema. I can not say which part is the best, but this one is undoubtedly perfect! “X-Men: Days of the Past” until the best film of 2014!

X-Men: Apocalypse is great if X-Men: Days of Future Past was awesome
Overall movie was great Although movie starts a bit slow and i was a little confused and bored but after that the movie finally starts catching up to the expectation.
For me this was the best x-men movie because this movie has the best action sequences as compared to any other x-men movie with a great story and emotion(not as good as days of future past but who cares its a superhero movie) .

I can literally watch the movie again just because of quicksilver.I never thought they could top the X-Men: Days of Future Past action(or comedy) scene but they did.
Acting of all the cast members were awesome and James McAvoy,Michael Fassbender & Jennifer Lawrence knocked it out the park.
I don’t understand the critics , I never did.(sound’s similar to superman’s mom in BvS that was in the trailer :P)
Movie the great and I can’t wait to watch it again.

Storyline
Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X.

What stands out in this movie (besides the look of some of the mutants), is the clever way in which all the pieces fall into place as a prequel which cements the backdrop and tone for the previous X-men offers. This one however, stands above them though for the consideration and tact that has gone into developing these understandably complex characters. Resulting in a more complete movie experience.

The leading cast do a brilliant job in giving you a sense of their conflict with ingredients such as prejudice, ignorance, a sense of belonging and bitter revenge giving the film a more humane feel than a lot of dramas allowing you to connect with the characters more easily.

The special effects- lets not forget, are top notch as expected, but surprisingly very in-keeping with the film and doesn’t take away from the other elements of it. The violence is clean but present, pitched right between a young and adult audience. There’s also a decent amount of ironic humour thrown in, which, considering the party tricks on offer (by that I mean the powers and peculiarities of the mutants), just comes and goes naturally without feeling forced as like a lot of comedy moments in films of late.

Bottom-line, this is a well-constructed, well acted Marvel film. I wasn’t totally convinced beforehand, casting James McAvoy as the young Xavier, a full head of hair and northern accent doesn’t seem the best fit after all. I can say that he fully realised that role and showed his range in playing a more commanding lead. Michael Fassbender has great screen presence and does a good shift as the Magneto to-be and Mr Bacon adds another interesting element to the story. All the supporting cast give a solid performance with everyone focused on the exciting job at hand and no weak links.

Easily worth the cinema admission and thank god they didn’t make it in hit-and-miss 3d, there’s just no need! The best of the X-men franchise.

Storyline

They go to investigate and find more than just signs, they find conclusive evidence. But some of them have an ulterior motive for being there, including the Weyland Corporation. They believe that this is where the human race actually came from. Things soon turn from excitement to survival once inside their discovery.

As an avid Scifi fan I was really looking forward to this ‘alien’ prequel and perhaps therein lies the problem but this film is flawed on so many levels I do not know where to begin but I will begin with the biggest and most fatal flaw of the lot. I did not care! The characters are so under developed that not only didn’t I care about any of them but didn’t really understand why any would behave in the ways that they did. Fassbender was OK, Rapace wasn’t bad given her command of the English language is less than perfect but all others were vacuous and frankly pointless. Theron suffers particularly for this poor lack of development and just comes across as wooden rather than cold which I suspect was the intention.

The second problem is plausibility. Now I know it’s a scifi and you need to suspend disbelief but that should be limited to the premise. As it is we are asked to believe that these so called scientists, educated and measured people would disregard scientific methods and become mindless idiots, wandering off from groups (cliche) and prodding and poking things as soon as they see them. Collecting samples in what can only be described as a duffle bag is among the worst of these actions.

Finally and perhaps most disappointingly for Alien fans is where is the menace? Alien and some of the sequels succeeded because you were anxious almost all the way through the film. Here there was none, no egde of your seat moments, no heart stopping scenes, just a collection of uneven scenes hastily cobbled together to minimal effect.

It is beautifully shot hence why I’ve given it 4 stars but other than that very poor and for me the most underwhelming film I’ve seen in a long while!
