When watching a cartoon, you rarely ask yourself philosophical questions. Where do people get their personality? Is there such a thing as “destiny”? For centuries, philosophers, theologians and psychologists have tried to formulate a particular vision of this issue. Interestingly, Pixar’s main inspiration, Pete Docter, has joined the long list of people looking for meaning in life – the person behind non-standard animated films like Puzzle and Up. This time, Docter continued to think through an intuitive metaphor for the meaning of life in Soul, a bold metaphysical drama about what drives the human personality. Of course, it can be ironic for a long time that Pixar cartoons tell about objects whose souls suddenly hatch (toys, “cars”, etc.), but this time, excuse the tautology, the soul was found in the soul, however, let’s put aside the bad irony : a simple yet ambitious film contains worldly wisdom.

Soul begins with the death of the unlucky protagonist, school music teacher Joe Gardner. Disappointed in his life, the pianist had just auditioned for the accompaniment of the famous jazz singer, and now, he fell into an open sewer manhole. Not exactly an optimistic start for a children’s cartoon. However, “Soul” in many ways does not play by the rules: instead of going to Heaven, Joe in a new guise, similar to the ghost of Casper, finds himself in a place where new souls are preparing for life on Earth. Now he needs to go to Earth to fulfill his dream.

Pixar’s film shapes the afterlife in an abstract form and does the almost impossible: revitalizes theoretical phenomena whose existence lies in the mystical realm of being, and at the same time endows each of them with personification. In the Doctor’s scenario, souls, before going to Earth, participate in seminars and communicate with mentors in order to find their spark – a talent or disposition, which at a certain moment in life will lead to the goal of a lifetime. During his journey through this beautiful place, Joe’s spirit meets the Twenty-Second – a soul that languishes in this “dressing room” of existence for hundreds of years and cannot find its spark in any way. From Archimedes to Mother Teresa, these outstanding people never helped Twenty-two find their destiny.

Of the many innovative (and even adventurous) Soul ideas, one of the most unexpected is the claim that there is such a thing as being overly focused on a dream or the meaning of life. Yes, it is quite ironic that this lesson was wanted to teach by the studio staff, who sacrifice their lives in order to create high-quality cartoons. And then Docter almost out loud (at least visually) utters another unpopular message: sometimes achieving a dream can make you feel empty. The dream, one way or another, is ephemeral: in this “Soul” came out as a work that is quite sincere and even radical. Docter says: look for happiness in the little things.

With this simplicity, “Soul” works on several levels at once. If you find fault, the thematic content here is still focused on children. Nevertheless, the perception of “Soul” by adults lies beyond clever jokes and references: here it is precisely a metaphysical interpretation based on the questions that an adult asks one way or another. “Soul” avoids both moralizing and overly depressing connotations. And, interestingly, there is no antagonist in the script: most of the picture is built on the relationship between Twenty-Second and Joe, i.e. the deprivation of the plot of the villain rather played on a positive in the narrative and strengthened the emotional core, erasing the beaten paths of plot that could be used.

“Soul” sets itself incredibly high goals and, alas, cannot always achieve them. For example, in an animated film, there are several unfinished storylines: the closer we get to the climax in which the main lesson is going to be taught, the more confusing it is in the context of the plot. There is so much in “Soul” that one can enjoy and reflect, and not analyze the script elements and subtleties of the subtext: nevertheless, this tape lies more precisely in the subconscious plane.

Almost a parable about life and death, which children of primary school age will not understand due to their age, but they will still be able to enjoy it: a bright animated drama is difficult to explain from the point of view of meaning and plays on emotions. This must be the case when watching, when a child and an adult get the same impressions, only the older viewer can explain why he feels it, and the child how he feels it. Pixar reached the pinnacle of animation, musical accompaniment, jokes, a sincere representation of life’s problems and experiences, but at times, with messages about the pursuit of a dream and a spark of life, they were too clever: subtlety is useless here. Existential crises can be overwhelming, although there is so much to enjoy in Soul: just a touch of regret for lack of courage and overly neat philosophy.

Moana, the daughter of the leader of a small island tribe, from early childhood experienced a strange attraction to the ocean, despite the fact that the strongest dogma of her people was a travel ban. Moana almost came to terms with her fate and the will of her father, but soon she became aware that due to the stupid act of the demigod Maui, darkness was slowly but surely coming to the whole world. Soon her tribe will have nothing to eat and nowhere to live, and only a decisive sea voyage can help to avoid disaster.

There are several pillars of Hollywood in American cinema that you always know what to expect from: Stephen Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, perhaps Michael Bay, and, of course, Walt Disney’s studio. Her cartoons, with extremely rare exceptions, are built on the same, many years ago, established pattern, which, on the one hand, causes the viewer a pleasant sense of recognition, and on the other, guarantees a high quality picture. Of course, individual details change, entertaining chips come up, funny characters are drawn, but the basis is always the same: a melodramatic plot with a relatively childish morality, a beautiful, high-quality rendering, a strong-willed main character (the so-called Disney Princess), several idiotic characters called cause laughter in a small and not very spectator, and, of course, songs.

So “Moana is a classic “Disney Disneyevich, which does not recede a step from its general line. However, nothing is bad about this, by and large. A masterpiece from such cartoons will never work out, it’s true, but a picture for one or two views that does not cause a negative and leaves a pleasant aftertaste is a complete welcome. Most of all I liked, of course, the demigod Maui – a bright, ambiguous character, endowed with a rather controversial character and a lively tattoo on the body. In many ways, it was he who assumed the function of humor, since I honestly am not happy with the crazy cock of Heikhey: he was too stupid. Moana herself is again a typical Disney princess, the half-film is rapidly spinning, the half-film is suffering frantically due to a lack of self-identification. I really liked the final twist of the cartoon – this is what I really did not expect from Disney, it turned out thoughtfully, unexpectedly, and even with a little philosophical overtones.

In short, as you already understood, “Moana” is a bright representative of template animation from Disney Studio. Your impression will depend on how you tune in to this very stereotyped. If your inner child is able to accept the rules of the game and just enjoy the animation and classic characters, then you will like it. If you will be annoying about the reusable pattern, then you should not look, definitely.3

Thor Ragnarok 4K Review
Ragnarok is a neon-infused fantasy of what superhero films could look like. There are gigantic monsters and beautiful women; zombie armies and a big spooky dog; an evil witch and Jeff Goldblum, but this isn’t just a wacky movie made for the sake of wackiness. Ragnarok is the child of confident filmmaking and understanding of what the Thor franchise could have always been.

It takes a character that could have always been more and makes good on that promise through competent storytelling and unbridled enthusiasm for the world. This is exactly how we should be rewarded for their fandom. There has never been a clearer example of throwing the entire kitchen sink at a single title and having every single washer and lug-nut of that porcelain mechanism land in perfect order than Ragnarok.

Awesome mix of everything

So, initially there were comics about individual heroes. Personally, I was most impressed by Iron Man – an excellent combination of humor and plot. That is pathos in moderation, it’s interesting to watch. Then we decided to mix all the characters, and something was not very clear. The degree of pathos and humor declined, the same Captain America added pretty melancholy. Everyone pulled the blanket over.

And then came the new spider-man. A cool film that I personally was bored to watch. It is aimed at a teenage audience, an adult wants to say “well, and a fool,” and for teenagers the new Spider should get closer. A new, separate, Tor appeared. A separate film about the Black Panther is being prepared. I have a feeling that they decided to share genres. This is for teenagers, this is for older people, who likes to spoil, this is for older people who want action more serious, this is for informals and fans of profanity, and something will be removed separately for girls, perhaps. And, on the one hand, it’s a shame that part of the comic books are not for you, but, on the other hand, from “your” comics you get much more pleasure. 4K film download.

Actors, of course, gathered here wonderful ones. But this does not guarantee success, so I will highlight what I liked most. To my taste, here is almost ideal ratio of humor, pathos and action. And once you pour a bucket of pathos battles, immediately dilute it with humor. Do not have time to get bored of either, or even, and the plot turns are pleased, in such films, events can turn in any direction at any second, if you do not read reviews / sources in advance, FIG guess the development of the plot. And new references to Scandinavian mythology enliven the plot even more.

Well, if it’s still about the actors, then Keith Blanchet as the goddess of death looks wonderful. With a fastidious-indifferent expression on his face to wet the people around him – not everyone will cope. Thor dogs from Loki, the Hulk has grown wiser, I would say. Of the secondary characters, Valkyrie and Grandmaster really liked. Live and interesting characters, perfectly complementing the main characters. And, of course, it is necessary to mention the actors of the third plan. Anthony Hopkins looks great even in complete sludge, such as The Last Knight, and the joke with Matt Damon, playing at the Loki Theater, is simply gorgeous. Sorry I did not recognize him right away. So. Excellent actors, excellent balance of humor and pathos, awesome graphics and dashing plot. The cinema is beautiful.
