On the streets of the city where crime syndicates are rampaging, under cover of night and corrupt law enforcement officers, sooner or later, call it what you want – chance, fate, pit competitors involved in one dirty craft, which brings not only fabulous incomes, but also leaves behind a mountain of corpses. Raking all this mess is entrusted to an uncompromising person, courageously stupid, not afraid to get dirty in order to achieve his goal. You know, experience comes with time and practice – to calm down trembling hands, with a finger on the trigger, to take responsibility for someone else’s life, which is threatened by a fugitive, driven into a corner, holding a gun to the temple of a girl of last strength, appealing to the humanity of her potential the killers. Probably, our protagonist has faced a similar situation more than once, however, in my opinion, raised by the example of his father, he (in the present detective story) is used to trusting comrades by badge. However, it is not so simple (I would rather prefer to hide this plot twist. Let us dwell on confirming its presence in the film so as not to spoil your viewing in the future). Let’s go in order:

Characters

Detective Andre Davis:

Eight policemen die in a skirmish against armed robbery. Two raiders awkwardly pull out fifty kilograms of coke from a common three hundred kilogram stash, apparently very powerful people, with immense appetites. Detective Davis leaves for the place to investigate the “worst case of all years of service. Possessing a heightened sense of justice, his hands are stained with the blood of four morally degraded individuals, and in a word, there is not a bit of pity for their death, because, as we said above, all this is in his DNA. However, the unceremonious attitude towards the murderers also works in the opposite direction. Andre is able to see the running eyes of a stumbling young man in search of a way out of a dangerous mess, even holding a hostage on the fly – this kid is not a killer. If there is a chance to come to an agreement, to convince an inept fool, it is worth a try.

Michael Trujillo and Ray Jackson:

A former marines roaming the dark alleys of a friend of his elder brother – inveterate scoundrel Ray Jackson. They are the exact opposite of each other. Ray, whether in a fit of anger or perhaps out of banal pride, empties an automaton shop with a silencer, clearing the way for himself and his partner, sometimes in circumstances where such behavior is completely illogical. As for Michael, one fact is that after the shootout (in which he took an extremely passive part, aiming at the walls and furniture, that the truth does not detract from the gravity of his actions, again he went to the robbery, roughly knowing what this could turn into ) literally twists it, says a lot.

Captain Macken:

The incident that gave rise to a string of major events occurred on the Macken site. It was his wards who first surrounded the building and in the process opened fire on the bandits who settled there. The captain, already in his late years, adheres to the philosophy of altruism, justifying every step by caring for the good of those who did not give a damn about the state and society as a whole. After thinking about the character’s motivation, an intricate viewer will rather feel awkward for himself and others than censure (although I dare not deny that the latter also has a right to exist).

Atmosphere:

Closing the bridges leading to Manhattan is a great and interesting idea for realization on the big screen. Unfortunately, it is not fully implemented here and not as large as it sounds in theory. Likewise, all claims against the directors are compensated by more than successfully pumped up tension associated with the risk of getting a bullet in the forehead in the scurvy expanses of the stone jungle, where the concepts of chaos and order are now very blurred.

Actor play:

I will not dissemble, Chadwick Bozeman attracted my attention from the “Confrontation (2016) from the Russo brothers, where he appeared in the role of the Black Panther – the king of the mysterious Wakanda, in the costume of an armored cat. There was something catchy in his game. Origin of 2018, only confirmed my impression. Further, I was able to evaluate his talents in the sports drama “42” (2013) – the story of Jack Robinson, the first black player in the 20th century baseball league (Major League Baseball), brilliantly embodied by Bowman. Further, the turn of “Marshall (2017) came and Chadwick tried on the role of Tergud Marshall, in the film, telling about the real case in the career of an outstanding lawyer. In “21 Bridge”, Bowzman again distinguished himself by showing a principled guardian of the law, taking out the entire drama as a bonus alone (the metro scene deserves special mention). With regards to Stefan James, I know him, thanks to Barry Jenkins, who wrote in a pair with James Baldwin, and staged “If Bill Street Could Talk (2018). In Michael Trujillo Stefan invested a certain naivety of a little boy in a moment who found himself in a huge world with very complex rules of the game. Well, J.K. Simmons, despite his relatively short appearance, is, as always, inimitable.

Bottom line: “21 Bridge by Brian Kirk is a strong action movie, comfortably located in the niche of entertaining cinema, without swings at prestigious awards, with a good script and excellent action.

The most powerful feature of the new film by Joseph Kosinski is first of all a very careful and competent work with the characters. Watching each of them is equally interesting, whether the main character is secondary or secondary. The film manages to reveal and show the various problems of certain members of the detachment of the Granite Mountain from different points of view, and thanks to, in my opinion, a very nice caste, it is interesting to observe the development of characters from a purely visual side. However, this is where the main and only drawback of the film breaks through: its excessive involvement in human relationships, which leaves one of the most terrible natural elements on earth on the second plan.

There is no balance in the film. “Only the Brave 4K is first of all a story about 20 brave and courageous men, about their life and the formation of the first in the history of the municipal squad of specialists. The struggle with the elements does not seem to them to be something difficult, they are professionals and this is their job. Much more, the plot focuses on the causes and motivation to risk life every day, in order to save people and protected areas. And be that as it may, the picture manages to lure the viewer with its atmospheric, secluded, and willy-nilly, you begin to feel sympathy for the characters.

Despite the fairly large temporary jumps, the picture looks very solid and in the end there is no feeling of understatement. The only caveat is that instead of a couple of unnecessary and completely empty dialogs, one could pay a little more attention to one of the worst fires that occurred in Yarnell Hill and had really terrible consequences for many people. The rest of course no questions to the picture of Joseph Kosinski can not be. This is a worthwhile film about simple human truths: love, friendship, family, brotherhood. And with what respect it is shown deserves great praise.

Nowadays, this kind of level and the level of the pictures is extremely small, and even from some side I am a little offended that the film did not find its viewers at the box office. But I’m sure that he will find it now. “Only the Brave 4K is almost a reference example of how a real biopic should be, and photos of the squad after the final scene evoke strong emotions.

Battleship 4K Review
Heaven help me! I liked this movie, now I am going to be one of the few who did. As you can see from the other reviews a lot of people didn’t like this movie, so why did I?

1. I came in with low expectations – I was expecting something horrible, boring, long and pointless, but despite myself I liked it, I laughed at the jokes, I connected with the actors (yes, Rihanna too), I was excited by the action and while clichs the plot held my interest

2. The actors did a good job with what they were given – Taylor Kitsch did a good job, Rihanna wasn’t that bad, I dare say good, in her role. She was there, she didn’t try to chew the scenery, she did her job as an actor/secondary character and it didn’t bother me. I give her kudos

3. lost in translation? – you try to make a game into a movie and you want to put parts of them game in it? Not easy, a little cheesy? Of course, but fun? Yes, fun, enjoyable, and in the end it was a part of the story that wasn’t as forced as it could have been.

So in conclusion, “Battleship” is a fun, corny, typical summer movie that I like but as you see a lot of people didn’t. I think it is a guilty pleasure, something to be enjoyed by the few but annoyed by the rest. In the end I can only suggest this – go in with low expectations, expect a little over the top patriotism like in “Act of Valor” ( but not so heavy), and don’t think about it. The movie is not without its flaws or questionable logic, but as it was said so well in another movie – “I suggest you don’t think about it and just enjoy the ride”

Storyline

Lone Survivor- A Brutally Authentic and Nonpartisan Portrayal of the War Time Experience Told Through Peter Berg’s Respectful Direction and Honest Screenplay
An undeniable aspect of war, whether or not you make rationalizations on its regrettable purpose or demonize its existence entirely, is that it’s an utter hell that tries the mentality and physicality of the courageous men and women who fight in the conflict. Most war films have captured the hellish and nonsensical brutality of war through challenging cinematic portraits, either through the allegorical heart of darkness showcased in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, the apathetic political influences in Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory, and even in cinema’s first triumphant reflections with the adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front. But while all wars impact people there aren’t enough films that showcase true examples of wartime heroism which neglects a chance to embrace the humanity in the soldiers who are put into these tumultuous and life threatening circumstances. This is where Peter Berg’s ominously titled latest film Lone Survivor differs from the a vast majority of the war film experience because rather than postulating on the reasons or criticisms for war it only seeks to depict the strong links of brotherhood involved in our armed forces ranks through an effective nonpartisan slant. Returning to his attention to detail roots showcased in The Kingdom and leaving behind an unfortunate deviation into the ridiculous with Battleship, Berg has concocted a relatively solid film in Lone Survivor that follows the real life events that happened in 2005 to Navy SEAL Mark Luttrell and his team in the Afghanistan Mountains when a secret operation is compromised. Though the film could have had deeper character development and interaction in the first quarter of the film, an aspect that slightly detriments the overall impact of the picture, its solid and intimate middle core of brutally authentic wartime conflict captured in real time is a technically astounding, emotionally engaging, and definite pulse pounding experience. To the film’s creative credit in staying true to the events that transpired it demonstrates that the relentless pummeling of war doesn’t always come with the Hollywood convention that is graceful relief giving the film a true experience of modern warfare. Lone Survivor might have its storytelling flaws, mainly due to a conventional structure and some fairly assumed character involvement, but when it erupts into the focused intimacy of soldier bonding amidst the chaotic brutality of battle in the middle of the film it becomes a relatively involving homage to the relentless dedication of spirit within our soldiers.
