This film is set at the height of the civil war in Yemen. The Shiite rebels living in the north of the country oppose the alliance between the Yemeni authorities and the United States and the restoration of the theocratic monarchy that existed in North Yemen before the military coup of 1962. This leads to active hostilities between the Shiites, on the one hand, and the armies of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, on the other. A detachment of military personnel sets out on another planned sortie. But it soon finds itself in ambush and under incessant terrorist fire.

The naked eye can see that the inspiration for the authors of this film was the cult “Black Hawk” from director Ridley Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Like “Black Hawk”, the authors of this film took as the basis a tragic and unsuccessful military operation, but served it through the prism of an ode to the patriotism of the military and their desire “not to leave their own” on the battlefield. At the same time, the story itself is extremely simple. But it was Pierre Morel’s directing that made it truly special.

Pierre Morel has definitely directed one of the most spectacular and brutal, yet undeservedly unnoticed action movies of 2021. Except for the 10-15 minute intro, the whole movie is one continuous action scene with plenty of gunfights, explosions, destruction and similar action scenes, which are staged very effectively and spectacularly. Not to mention the powerful dynamics of the narration, which only increases the heat and tension with each new scene and allows you to watch the whole movie literally in the same breath.

The cast also played an important role in the full immersion into the events on the screen. The lack of big names and famous stars, as well as the mostly obscure and Muslim cast only contributed to the fact that on the screen you see not so much actors as real and live people who want to empathize.
