Jeanne Vaubernier, a woman from a lower class, is lifted out of poverty through feminine charms. Her patron, Count Dubarry, who has become rich through Jeanne’s love affairs, wants to introduce her to the King and arranges a meeting through the powerful Duc de Richelieu. The meeting goes far beyond his expectations – Jeanne falls in love with Louis XV at first sight with her directness.

After meeting the courtesan, the king’s taste for life awakens again – so much so that he can no longer live without Jeanne and makes her his official favorite. However, no one wants to see a commoner ruling the court at the head of the king.
