Oliver prefers to live on the streets rather than in an orphanage. He falls into a kind “family” of thieves and becomes a pickpocket.

The musical that became a star on Broadway on January 6, 1963. Thanks to the genius Lionel Bart, who wrote the music and the libretto, who, alas, having fallen victim to alcoholism and drug addiction, led a miserable existence when ‘Oliver’ thundered on stages all over the world, and a little later moved to screens, where he took a worthy place of classic film musical.
Wonderful performance of musical numbers. What are the songs ‘Clean out my pocket’ and ‘Who would buy me a wonderful morning’, like many others in this musical, touching the heart, causing joy and sadness. The musical is also famous for being able to amaze the eyes and ears with its petty ensemble, putting forward increased demands on the actors. Fortunately, all the actors, both adults and children, coped with their task. Most importantly, children who hold a high note of acting. And of course Mark Lester in the role of Oliver, who managed to convey nobility in the little boy, sad eyes and longing in his voice. Ron Moody as Fagin is admired with facial expressions, gestures, voice and inner fire.
London. It appears in luxury, then in beggarly mud. All these decorations strictly emphasize the Dicken atmosphere. The costumes are difficult not to notice, especially their variety, which is especially noticeable in the scenes on the streets. There are two that are especially striking – Oliver’s arrival in London, and morning London. Which, in turn, are filled with graceful choreography.
A musical about a boy with a kind and open heart. Not betraying his friends, but suffering from some of them adversity. His courage is worth learning. Are we ready to stay the same light after some adversity? Is it worth saving for your old age? Is it worth it when at every minute we are able to find something and lose something? How far can you go in a fit of anger and fear? Is love true when it is in trouble? And what is the song of true love for the whole world? And what is the melody of a childhood dream?
