Having received a promotion, the brave gendarme Crouchot arrives in the cozy resort town of Saint-Tropez with his beautiful daughter Nicole. The kind but understated local gendarmes gladly accept Crouchot into their circle. But their joy quickly fades: not so kindly, but even more foolish Crouchot with zeal rushes to the defense of the law, even when the law in his defense does not need it.

With the arrival in Saint-Tropez of the gendarme Crouchot “peaceful” life of the town ends: hunting for nudists, searching for a priceless painting stolen from the museum, catching a gang of dangerous criminals – the useless gendarme always has something to do. And the frivolous Nicole needs an eye and an eye…
