England, late 17th century. The kingdom is ruled by the short-sighted James II, who is vengeful and cruel. Peter Blood, a simple doctor, is arrested and sentenced to hang as a result of a ridiculous accident. However, he and several dozen other people are not executed, but sold into slavery on one of the Caribbean islands, where Blood, thanks to his intelligence and courage, makes a fierce enemy – Colonel Bishop – and falls head over heels in love with the beautiful Arabella. In a cruel twist of fate, she is Bishop’s niece. After escaping slavery, Peter and his companions in misfortune become pirates, terrorizing the surrounding seas and islands. But the pirate Blood is still in love with Arabella and cannot forget her.
