A sharp satirical pamphlet directed against the madness of war and militarism. The events take place during World War II in the Mediterranean region in an American bomber squadron. Against the backdrop of the horrors of war and its aftermath, we see a series of grotesque characters: a maniacal general, lower-ranking officers engaged in speculation with military property, and Captain Yossarian, who tries to get himself declared insane so he won’t have to fly.
