Davy is eleven years old and has recently lost his mother. The boy is left to his own devices, as his father, Hal Osborne, who works as a military air traffic controller, does not find time to communicate with his son. The boy is completely immersed in the virtual world of the computer game Cloak and Dagger, a role-playing game with a spy theme. One day, while playing the game, Davy receives truly important and secret information from an FBI agent. Davy tries to tell the adults about what happened, but no one believes him. The boy will have to deal with adult problems on his own.
