1932. After many years away, twins Smok and Stack return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta. They fought in the trenches of World War I and then became gangsters in Chicago. The brothers buy a piece of land with farm buildings from a white racist in order to open a music bar for plantation workers. The highlight of the opening is the preacher’s son, to whom the twins once gave a guitar, and who plays the blues so well that he attracts the attention of an Irish vampire who happens to be nearby.
