After many years of silence, Godzilla reappears off the coast of Japan and destroys a fishing boat. Fearing a new outbreak of rumors and panic, the Japanese authorities isolate the sole surviving sailor, but after Godzilla attacks a Soviet nuclear submarine, hiding the truth becomes pointless and dangerous.
