Norwegian debutante Emily Blighfeldt made Elvira (Lee Mirren) the main character of her scary fairy tale, whose mother Rebecca (Anne Dahl Thorup) gets married in the hope that she will be able to improve the family’s financial situation. Not only does the old husband have no money, but he also dies immediately after the wedding and “hangs” his beautiful daughter Agnes (Ti Sofie Loch Ness) around Rebecca’s neck.
