September 11, 2001. A typical day for the New York Police Department. Sergeant John McLoughlin (Cage) of the Port Authority Police Department gave out instructions as usual, and everyone dispersed to their posts. But a few hours later, an order came to return to base immediately. A squad of police officers boarded a bus and headed to downtown Manhattan because planes had crashed into the first and then the second building of the World Trade Center. The skyscrapers were burning, people needed to be rescued, and McLoughlin led four volunteers into the thick of the action.
