After the death of her archeologist husband, Loretta Sage hid from society and began to write quite popular love-adventure novels. The events in them unfold in exotic places, and the companion of the main character is invariably a handsome Dash, who is embodied on the covers of the books by the model Alan – the dream of the whole fandom. After the presentation of another bestseller, Loretta is suddenly kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire, confident that she can decipher the ancient inscriptions and lead him to the treasures of the lost city from her last book. Alan accidentally witnesses the kidnapping and, determined to prove he can be a hero in real life as well, develops a rescue operation along with the writer’s assistants and goes to Loretta’s rescue himself.

Loretta Sage used to write unforgettable love-adventure novels with erotic scenes with Dash, the character in her books, who in reality and on the covers of her books is portrayed by the jock Alan. During her press tour, she is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire whose goal is to find the Crown, one of the world’s greatest treasures. Loretta thinks her crazed fan has kidnapped her by taking her literally, but soon becomes convinced that the real Lost City her husband spoke of exists. In pursuit of them rushes Alan, who rushes forward only to save her and make amends.
The cast: no, it wasn’t because of Sandra, Channing, Brad or Radcliffe that I agreed to watch this seemingly insane comedy with no serious plot. Da`win Joy Randolph has been memorable to me since ‘Selfies’ for her role as Charmonique – greeting the employees in the morning and fervently loving her son. The actress hasn’t changed one bit since 2014, and I bet her character will surprise you as much as the GG. She plays publisher Beth Hutten, invested big time in another Loretta novel. But when her friend needs help, she’ll put every cop in the world on their ear (even if they’re not moving or at all willing to deal with it outside of the U.S.), no joke.
The antagonist is the image of Daniel, who showed his talent as a villain very successfully in the sequel to ‘Illusion of Deception’. Here, his character turned out to be completely faceless. It seems that his character was underestimated as a child. That’s why he’s Abigail.
And, of course, how can you not do without a cameo by Brad, that same Pete. He plays Jack Trainer (really by the last name of Trainer!), who must have served in the special forces of superheroes, since over the course of the movie skillfully jumps a huge gridiron, blowing up and putting enemies to sleep, while Tatum in the background pretends to fight the enemies. He’s only fooling around, though, repeating the moves. If Pitt is responsible for brutality, Tatum is responsible for coolness. You can’t take your eyes off blond Jack and his long hair. With this comic character associated a lot of funny scenes.
But no less funny is Tatum – whose hero migrated to Los Angeles for a better life, and eventually became a model on the cover, forgetting about the past and his talents, which he did not develop over the years posing as a fictional character. But meeting Loretta, who’s going through some tough times, will help him realize that she’s not a stiff at all, but a woman who misses her beloved husband and needs support to get out of writer’s block.
– I just feel bad for her. Not kidnapping, but I said stupid things to her and I want to apologize. I called her a “mummy man.”

Sandra Bullock. I didn’t expect such a famous actress to star in such a, somewhat bizarre adventure, but if you put an ordinary person in her place, then all of us could find ourselves in this situation. In the middle of the ocean, on a lonely island, surrounded by thugs, with no hope of rescue, in the company of the dazed face of her cover, which she is not thrilled about, but he rushes to her, riding not on a white horse, in the company of a former warrior. But, since the Oscar winner is involved in the film, so why not call the actress (who already had experience in the comedy genre). Her Loretta didn’t get to say goodbye to her husband, and she’s had a hard time since he left, despite the support of her publisher and friends. But there seems to be something missing from her life. It’s time for her to go on vacation. I don’t know what the famous actors have done to deserve to be here. They lost at cards, owed money to some mafia or just from need of money, that’s why they star in this kind of trash. But, I wouldn’t say their participation is useless, on the contrary it does the plot a favor by fueling the ironic moments.
All else aside: I don’t think it’s too serious a plot to pretend to be serious, even in the genre of comedy. And the jokes here are really excellent, albeit with little pauses, but in the moment of Bullock’s heroine’s release, it was funny. There are some quotes from characters which must have been adopted from Mother Russia (at least, I think so): “We can eat fish there”, “And climb up the Christmas tree”. It seems that the creators and brothers Adam and Aaron Nee didn’t care for the seriousness of the story, giving us actors in the frame as if they had come to work as volunteers at a tropical resort. All the humorous means will be good and applied to the story from the lush buns and “ass” of Alan’s character to the military hottie with whom Tatum’s character is yogonizing together.
Impressions: great to watch to forget the problems and join the funny characters and their funny story.
After credits scene: in such an absurdist comedy, something like this should have happened in the after credits scene. You learn how you can be miraculously resurrected in a yoga class by transferring 10% of your brain to another. Guess what, this character is immortal.
