Prisoners who have served long sentences are sent to a colony on Devil’s Island in French Guiana, South America, to serve the remainder of their sentences as colonists. Among them is a famous thief nicknamed “Moth.” The inhumane living conditions of the prisoners, the cruel treatment by sadistic guards, and the corruption of the administration force “Moth” and his comrade Louis Dega to embark on a risky escape.
