David Helfgott (Rush) is an outstanding pianist. But his promising talent was not appreciated by critics, including his own father. The film tells the story of Helfgott’s tragedy, explaining the reasons behind it.

As a young man, he was called the best pianist of his generation. However, this talent faded under the psychological pressure of his father. This man, who lost relatives in the gas chambers, undoubtedly loved his son, but could not understand or guide his talent. His father’s mistake in his relationship with his son destroyed his budding career.

The film’s soundtrack is mostly composed of music performed by Helfgott himself.
