4k movies reviews
Well, it took more than 20 films to tell us about the first Asian superhero.
So the main character Shang-Chi, the son of a powerful criminal, lost his mother in early childhood and his father raised him to be a murderer, but on the very first assignment he went on the run. And now, almost 15 years later, he is found in San Francisco, where he tries to get high from life, not to steam with his girlfriend Katie. They work as valet parking at an elite hotel and sing karaoke at night. But he has to leave this life, because his father’s bandits stole his mother’s old medallion, and the other half is in the hands of his younger sister in Macau, and without hesitation our couple goes to warn our sister and tries to find out why father needed these amulets after so many years.
The plot as a whole is typical marvel, that is, the ending is very predictable, but the film has its own oriental flavor. And we must pay tribute to the main villain here has good motivation. Yes, at first it seems that he was just always angry, but then at the end a good drama about love and the importance of the family turns out, but in some places they overdo it with flashbacks. Katie is also not a typical love interest of the protagonist, she is more like a funny friend, and so the whole movie. And the rest of the characters are rather colorful. There is a clearly expressed image and for such a film it will work.
Most of all I was afraid for the visual, yet the Widow was with a frankly bad grafon. Here and again at the end there are a lot of cgi, but due to the oriental flavor it looks stylish and looks very solid. Fight in the film is quite a lot, of course, all melee, but how else. But they look luxurious, the battles themselves are long, complex, multi-level. Well, the operator of the Matrix trilogy Bill Pope was responsible for the showiness, and we all remember how cool the fights were in the three films about Neo. So here he also comes off in full fights there is also stylish slow-mo, but used in the theme.
The soundtrack as a whole is passable, there are a couple of shades of oriental motives, but as usual, the selection of songs is more pleasing here. But there is a lot of humor, and it is good, and in general the main characters here treat themselves not without good irony.
As a result, a good strong Asian action movie, with a cool choreography of fights, an epic final fight, and cool camera work. If you miss Marvel, then feel free to go to the movies.
