The sheriff of the small town of Rio Bravo, John Chance, arrests a murderer. The arrestee’s brother, a notorious gangster, gathers the most desperate thugs from around the area to free him.
The town is flooded with criminals, but Chance accepts the challenge. Only a drunk, a singer, and a young but fast gunfighter come to the sheriff’s aid. A handful of daredevils stand up for what’s right…
4k movies reviews
If you were a fan, of course you saw this movie ages ago. Also would have revisited it repeatedly, what’s the big deal. I suspect that those reading these reviews today are either ardent fans of the genre/director/actor John Wayne or, like me recently, regular movie buffs somewhat concerned with the question: to pump or not to pump?
Out of nothing to do, I looked into this chapter of cinematography, not even hoping to be imbued with it in any meaningful way, however…. Aha, this is where it’s time to write that all-important…. ‘However’.
The first five minutes of the movie opened up the Wild West for me from the inside. All at once. Murder in a saloon for no reason – the first scene showed everything so realistically that I realized that it was so! And dale, went on: from the very beginning of the movie did not let go. A cool sheriff with a funky gait and speech, a drunken assistant on the way to correction, a pretty girl with zest and hairstyle, a prison and a saloon with its regulars, a Mexican bartender, villains around the corner – all stamps on stamps, but only in such old movies it all does not give the impression of stamps, that’s the pardox.
Even though the script is not exquisite. Yes, all the beauty of the non-black earth strip of the United States is also left behind. But the performance of actors of that time… Gods! I’d give anything to see the premiere of this movie. To see it through the eyes of a 50-year-old moviegoer. Because even today, half a century later, you want to give the tape almost the highest score, and how was it then?!
