The baby alligator was flushed down the toilet and found its way into the underground sewer system. Feeding on the bodies of animals that had been hormonally experimented on, it grew to enormous size. Next in its diet were the people of Chicago.

Alligator” from the director of “Cujo” and “Cat’s Eye” is a joy to watch from the very first minutes. Instead of the mundane prologue ‘a couple of fools fall prey to a monster’ there is a much more spectacular scene of a disruption of a live crocodile show, ending in a bloody tragedy. The prologue goes on, introducing us to the main character’s childhood and the crocodile himself (it must be said that the crocodile’s childhood as well).
Then the plot jumps ahead twelve years, where it turns out that it’s not the proverbial toxic waste but scientists and experimental drugs that are to blame for the nature of the huge monster. It’s not that it’s better than typical theories, it’s more of an equal and vivid counterpart to an interesting explanation of the creature’s size.
The film is held up to a very proper standard, it is quite spectacular with plenty of blood, victims, corpses, abrupt appearances and sudden moments. With very frightening music, copied from ‘Jaws’ by a plagiarist composer, and a bright professional performance by the actors.
The cast is very good, playing brightly and realistically. Special mention should be made of the screams of panic and dying victims, it looks extremely realistic. The protagonists did not disappoint either, they are interesting and revealing, evoking all kinds of emotions as you watch.
The biggest plus of the film is the crocodile himself. Here he is, thank goodness, not at all computer-generated, but a very spectacular and creepy life-size model. The crocodile is wonderfully made, no worse than the Italian ‘Killer Crocodile’, if not better, in terms of appearance. The creators of the monster – a lot of respect! They managed to make a creepy giant creature and very intimidating.
The effects in the movie are also very good. Besides a gorgeous crocodile, there are also rivers of blood, plenty of gnawed off limbs, mutilated corpses, and very realistic looking murders and eating people. The special effects wizards did a great job, making a really spectacular horror film.
Another big plus of the movie is the very interesting plot. There is absolutely no time to get bored while watching it, it watches in the same breath, sticking to the screen with its twists and turns and the story itself, which is really exciting and shocking here. Wonderful plot twists, such as crocodile’s visit to his creator’s villa with numerous devouring guests, the very appearance of the creature from the asphalt – this is the most gorgeous moment of the movie! The scene at the canal is again very atmospheric and good, and many other plot twists are very pleasing, causing delight and amusement.
The movie has many twists and turns and looks very atmospheric and scary. Appropriate music makes all the attack scenes in general amazing. The effects masters did their best, making the monster and his murders very spectacular, bloody and creepy. The movie is a masterpiece.
