Film description

During a lecture at a congress of parapsychologists, a woman who was giving a lecture and guessing the names of those present in the hall and what they had in their pockets threw herself into a fit, claiming that there was death in the hall, that she saw a terrible murder in the villa, that she heard a nursery rhyme. And on the same night she was brutally stabbed to death with a huge cleaver by a man in a raincoat, whom the jazz pianist had seen. Unwittingly, the pianist is drawn into this story and begins his own investigation.

4k movies reviews
A wonderful film, Argento’s films generally attract me, but so far, none of them I have been able to record as my really favorite. Bye. I will definitely want to review the blood red more than once, I got a real pleasure from watching it.

The film contains all the classic techniques that I have repeatedly noticed in Argento’s paintings – a killer with gloves, a first-person camera, again killers, a large demonstration of the eye (yes, yes, killers again), the investigation is, of course, not the police, but by accident the person involved in the story. Everything is here, but this time it turned out very competently, but most importantly – flavored with a huge amount of humor. The humor in the film is wonderful, it perfectly lifts the mood, while being able to maintain the required degree of tension – oohs and oohs, at least from surprise, are quite possible.

I always praise Argento for the sudden ending, the ending and the personality of the killer constantly surprise me. Perhaps I’m a bad detective or I just don’t think in this direction while watching, but the ending is always a surprise for me, and this film was no exception. Also, here you can not complain about the acting, of course, no one has enough stars from the sky, but everyone is playing very decently and no one has an eyesore at all, so this is only a plus.

Visually, the film is a pure delight – Rome is beautiful, the heroes’ apartments are simply gorgeous, there are a lot of interesting interior details and furnishings – you can’t get enough of it. I would like to especially note two favorite places of action – a castle (or a mansion), abandoned and rented out – just a fairy tale, you will not admire, and a night school, very even creepy. Naturally, these are just my preferences, but the shot is excellent, however, the whole film cannot complain about the absence of a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing picture. In “Blood Red” the musical theme was for the first time entrusted to the Goblin group (they can already be recognized at least by Suspiria) and their debut work is very good, the style is immediately recognizable, the music intensifies the atmosphere in especially tense moments, one might say, suppresses, and that’s one distinguishing mark of Argento’s paintings, which I love very much.

“Blood Red” is a wonderful detective thriller with a small admixture of horror, which touches upon a favorite children’s theme – a children’s song, dolls, creepy drawings – what I like even more. Fun and tense at the same time, the right balance is perfect. From watching, I got extremely pleasant emotions, very pleased with the dialogues, unusual and interesting. Recommended for viewing, especially for fans of the genre.
