One day the virus mutates in an unexpected way, stripping the infected of their human form and provoking uncontrollable outbursts of aggression and lust. Jim catches the breakthrough of the new virus in a crowded cafe, and Kat – in the subway during rush hour, and now the young people will have to try very hard to get to each other and not get into the clutches of the rabid fellow citizens.

The “Ku bei” poster is signed like a dating site profile: “the most violent and depraved” zombie movie. Strong statement, let’s check it out.
A young couple’s morning begins with a little argument and a quick reconciliation. Instead of coffee, the protagonist gets a boost of energy from the sight of a bloody but still alive body on a nearby rooftop. After which the happy young couple go their separate ways. This is where the lyrics end, and the physics, or rather physiology, begins.
The virus in “Ku bei” makes people not just carnivorous zombies, but lustful maniacs prone to self-mutilation and sexual violence. Filthy swearing, elaborate sadism, and fountains of blood are the main stuffing of the film. The authors learned their ultra-violence from the masters of radical cinema, as evidenced both by the direct references (see, Empty Loznitsa, Sorry, Eyeball and Serbian Film) and by the accents in general.
Among other things, the authors walk through the problems of white people. Thus, an annoying middle-aged man who parks his baldness on a young beauty is first verbally accused of harassment. Then, after moving into ultra mode, he starts harassing for real, in all his orifices. The subtypical kid with the 2D chick on his phone screen saver gets punched in the face repeatedly and gets hurt. Because he’s weak and cowardly squared. The rest of us won’t be much luckier. In this regard, punching a man between the legs is embodied in the film both literally and figuratively.
The theme of the authorities’ attitude towards the pandemic is revealed with a dash of black humor. The film is set in Taiwan, for China this motif would be too bold. The markers of modernity also include the presence of a gun printed on a 3D printer. Its effectiveness will be shown in action.
In the end, the thesis “depraved and violent” was correct. But it should be noted that this bloody feast lacks psychological tension, as the action is too carnivalesque. With grimaces and savoring. What is usually referred to as a sub-genre of torture porn. “Ku bei” is a modern example of it, where zombies are the means, not the end.
