The first film about the priestess of love Emmanuelle. The plot serves as a canvas for describing the heroine’s sexual adventures in Southeast Asia.
Emmanuel’s husband, who works at the embassy, encourages her desire for emancipation in sex, since the entire diplomatic corps, especially women, are languishing with boredom. An elderly specialist is already taking up her upbringing. Emmanuelle makes great strides in the art of love.
4k movies reviews
Back in 1974, when everything was not the same as it is now, Just Jacquin directed the film Emmanuelle. A film that has acquired a cult status in the Soviet Union. Finally, I was able to watch this film.
Sheer hedonism is evident. French citizens indulge in all imaginable pleasures on the other side of the world – in Thailand. People do not yet know what AIDS is and indulge in all imaginable sexual pleasures. People who live for their own pleasure. And Emmanuelle, who comes from Paris, where she did not cheat on her husband, into the world of carnal pleasures. I can’t even say what this film is about. Judging by the title, one could expect a movie about the adventures of the main character – Emmanuelle, but not everything is so simple.
Emmanuelle, compared to the public around her, is an innocent lamb who came from a world where nothing can be done (in Paris), into a world where the principle of hedonism ‘What is natural is not ugly’ defeated the Christian worldview of vices. In my opinion, this is precisely the main theme of the film. Is it something out of the ordinary, disgusting, unacceptable what Emmanuel and the entire European public in Thailand is doing? You decide.
But I will allow myself to quote the Marquis de Sade: “When the whole society commits the same mistakes, it forgives itself very usually” (Marquis de Sade – 120 days of Sodom). And another quote: ‘Happiness is not pleasure, but desire; it means breaking all barriers to the fulfillment of desire ‘(Marquis de Sade – 120 days of Sodom).
