An allegedly lethal weapon has been stolen from a secret laboratory, so having assembled a team of his best operatives, Orson finds the middleman in the impending sale – billionaire and big fan of celebrity Greg Simmonds. And to get close to him, he decides to use the famous Hollywood actor Danny Francesco as a cover.

Guy Ritchie’s Operation ‘Fortune’ is much more playful and relaxed than Wrath of Man (2021, Wrath of Man) in terms of narrative. The story is familiar in terms of plot twists and balancing humor with seriousness. And while watching it, I thought it was an action movie with a touch of the ’90s, where rugged uncles aren’t afraid of anything, while still keeping their composure, but also managing to make apt jokes. But still, there is an unchanging style from Guy Ritchie here, in the color reproduction of the plans and in the appearance of everyone who appears on the screen. There’s a catch with the look.
As for Orson Forchen’s extravagance, which I noted above, the description of those who work with him is that he requests the obligatory private jet, serving Ch?teau Margaux wine, and a vacation in the Maldives after completing the assignment. Ch?teau Margaux is a winery in the Médoc region of France’s Bordeaux region and is one of the top five wineries in France. He asks for certain harvests – 1982, 1996 and 2004. These range from 60,000 to 380,000 rubles per bottle (the older, the more expensive).
These details (flirting) with the very expensive elements amused me.
Thus, amidst the prohibitive demands of the elite special agent Orson, the director himself teases his actors. They are endowed with weaknesses, black marks in their biographies, at the same time they are easily blackmailed by these secrets, they measure themselves by billions (Arnold has capital of 17 billions, Trent has 22 billions), and the infamous race in dignity is traced in it (who has more and longer), Guy Ritchie himself compares actors with actors, and actors with agents – allegedly reminding that the whole world is theater, and you know what else. At the same time, he doesn’t forget to be serious. Still, the agents are up to a serious task, and the world works the same for everyone – the government wants us all to compete and conflict. In Guy Ritchie’s film, the billionaire’s yacht is called the Silentium and the hotel where the agents arrive is the Regnum. Everything is done in secret (keep quiet and you won’t get caught), and it’s all like a separate kingdom (Regnum), where you can’t easily get into.
Here, from the first shots, you get the feeling that Guy has returned to his trademark honed blend of sharpness and speed. The short plans, the musical accompaniment, the haughty, sneering facial expressions. The opening scene sets the tone and tempo of the entire narrative – I liked the way the sound of footsteps was developed. At first it feels like a countdown clock, then – really like rushing steps, gradually it becomes a rhythmic musical sequence, and in parallel the tension builds up inside…. something interesting will happen next. My expectations were met. I’ve been waiting for the premiere for over a year (because the first trailer was released almost in 2021), and now I can say for sure, that the action film is worthy. I noted no failures or boredom attacks.
In the film, Guy Ritchie also made a reference to his family – his son and ex-wife. It’s about a scene in the office of billionaire Greg Simmonds (played by Hugh Grant), when agent Sarah (played by Aubrey Plaza) was doing her part of the job. There is a painting in the office, Sarah indicated her knowledge of modern art by naming the author of the painting, “This is the original Red. Son of Madonna,” which impressed her interlocutor.
Rhed is the creative pseudonym of Rocco Ricci, son of the director of this film and singer Madonna, ex-wife of Guy Ritchie. Rocco graduated from Central Saint Martins and the Royal School of Drawing and has already had three solo exhibitions.

It turned out to be a good action movie, serving an entertaining function. Jason Statham is like a fish in water in this genre, he’s good at playing agents. And the lack of emotion on his face is his calling card. And you can’t call it a minus, he’s very organic. The emotionality in ‘Operation Fortune’ is made up for, thanks to Hugh Grant and Aubrey Plaza. I consider their duet to be the film’s main merit.
