The film centers on a small group of scientists and military personnel (just 12 people) who are studying the zombie phenomenon in a heavily equipped underground laboratory, far from any major population centers. The truth is, not many people see the point in this research anymore—why study something if it’s already impossible to help anyone? Why the hell bother with these creatures, catching them, if nobody needs it anymore? Why risk their lives? But they keep doing it anyway, if only because they simply have no other purpose in life. Sitting around doing nothing for the rest of their lives in a converted missile silo—hardly anyone dreams of such a future. It’s quite possible that they are the last people on the planet—at least, no one has responded to radio signals for a long time.
