“Breach” is the name of the newest Canadian science fiction thriller, literally the other day burst onto the domestic big screens. To be honest, I was personally prompted to go to the cinema in our difficult and even dangerous time by one thing – the name of Bruce Willis on the advertising poster of this picture. And the film did not disappoint me!
Yes, in fact it is a picture of category “B”. Yes, this is your typical cheap sf action movie. Yes, this is a now extinct almost legendary subspecies – a corridor shooter-thriller. When heroes with machine guns and flamethrowers run along dirty dark corridors in order to properly make a barbecue out of some unearthly aggressive-minded krakozyabra. Well, or this krakozyabra is strenuously looking for someone for lunch in these corridors …
This is pure nostalgia. It’s like the very first “Alien” (at the maximum minimum, of course). It is like the legendary film “Legion” in 1998, which was also legendary at the time of Ona. (where a group of soldiers went to clear the dungeon of some extraterrestrial base – and stumbled upon a killer monster there). I would still remember the old “Lost in Space”. And Pandorum.
What does this “Breach” tell us about? On Earth, there is an ecological disaster and a kind of pandemic. The population is passionate about the struggle for freedom, that is, pogroms and creating terrorist rebel groups. The authorities have built super-starships that will take the chosen millions of colonists somewhere very, very far, to the planet New Earth. And now the last giant of space, called “Hercules”, starts … Start, millions of passengers peacefully fall asleep in the icy embrace of cryosleep, only a few technicians, cleaners and guards remain on duty. And then this began … Horror and blood on the walls, in short.
So, let’s be honest – the film’s budget was clearly very, very ooptimized. Moreover, Bruce Willis obviously had to pour at least a couple of lemons … Therefore, the weapon here will look very cheap. Well, just very much. But I liked the model of the starship. And also the actors … The characters could be chosen very well. And Bruce Willis. He did not strain too much here, but nevertheless played his role honestly. Such a cool bald guy, a bit of a rebel, a bit alcoholic and just a good action movie. In general, the hero did not hit his face in the mud. Ave Bruce! This is your second good role in a year, counting Motherless Brooklyn.
In general, this film is almost for the elite. For those who played DOOM, who remember the good old inexpensive fantastic action movies from cable and videotapes …
The ending of the picture is also quite … typical. I won’t say that I liked him, but for the sake of Bruce, the admiral and a bunch of fighting gentlemen and even one lady …
