1917 year. There is World War I with the Germans. Two soldiers are sent on a secret mission: to deliver a report to the headquarters, which will help save a thousand lives of military personnel. But as soon as they find themselves outside their territory, they will have to face many dangers awaiting them at any turn, and each step may be the last.

First of all, a new picture by Sam Mendes (“007: Skyfall Coordinates”) plunges us into the trenches of two like-minded people, the camera does not lag behind them even for a second, and we follow without stopping (until one of them falls into unconsciousness. All the shots are amazing, at the same time causing alarming notes when they plunge into the depths of the enemyÂ’s settlement. I liked and at the same time scared the moment with a rat, which at any moment could hurt the stretch, but did it with two youngsters, as if specially waiting for them. just hung As in the story about the hair of one soldier told Blake.

Mostly the British play here. Colin Firth, Andrew Scott Cumberbatch in the back cast. But even if these two last ones work as commanders-in-chief and appear a little in the frame, this cannot but prompt you to their brilliant roles in Sherlock. Although for me, Scott caused associations with the priest, the funeral service for cognac on the last journey of the main characters. Even Daniel Mace, who can play weak-minded personalities (except for “Victor Frankenstein”, by the way, Scott played the role of inspector of Scotland Yard there) and then appears to conduct a soldier. This is extremely disappointing.

George Mackay is popular, but for me he remained the same Buddhist from “Captain Fantastic”, but I admit, the guy matured. His Scofield is very careful and trying to survive in this nightmarish chaos. Dean-Charles Chapman plays a not-so-smart friend, chatting incessantly. His hero, like everyone else, would like to go in for supplies and survive the battle, but the reality is that both of them will have to fall into hell in order to meet his brother and complete the task. The actor himself is not too famous, but I’m sure it is fixable, caused a similarity with Josh Gad

From the work done by cameraman Roger Dickins, who does not take the camera away from the on-screen duo of McKay and Chapman, you just marvel. And thanks to Thomas Newman, you will plunge into a terrible atmosphere when any hour of your life borders on death, feeling a chill on your back.

As a result, we have a good, tense and very inventive film, showing all the horrors of war, from rotting horses (it’s good that the cow from the nearest farm remained alive, not like in the drama “Go and See), to the corpses and solidarity of soldiers in difficult fighting days service.
