Film description

Adapting the novel of the same name by Richard Matheson about an unknown virus that killed half of the world’s population, and the rest turned into vampires. The plot is built around a single surviving person with unexplained immunity, at nights holding an endless siege of ghouls, and in the afternoon trying to find the antidote and find out the causes of the epidemic.

Loneliness…. The most terrible feeling that a person can experience. It includes boredom, and monotony, and unrequited feelings. When a person is alone or remembers his former life, or dreams about the future, but in the present he has nothing to do, because there is no one near. But Robert Nevell has nothing to dream about, and every memory brings only pain. All his cries and requests in return are heard only silence ….

In the history of cinema there were not a few films dedicated to solitude. But almost all of them led a narrative about the so-called “loneliness in the crowd,” when people for one reason or another suffer from a lack of attention and communication (“A Man Without a Face,” “Unrelated Man,” etc.). In some of the characters, For geographical distance (Izgoy, Robinson Crusoe). But there are films in which the loneliness of the heroes is explained by the “disappearance” of people (or their transformation into non-humans). There were a lot of such films, but for some reason everyone who wants to compare “I’m a legend!” With other pictures is called “28 days later”. Yes the stories in these films are similar. But the chapters. The hero of 28 days was not alone, he just woke up in a deserted London.

The theme of deserted cities (not counting “I’m a legend!”) Was most clearly touched upon in the Langoliers. But there was only a company of people, but not one person. In my closest to the “similarity” to this film came up the picture “Vanilla Sky.” In the beginning, Tom Cruise rides on completely deserted Manhattan, although it was a dream. And so it turns out such loneliness as in “I’m a legend” new in the history of cinema. And you have to see everything new with your own eyes.

Actor (s)
Just want to praise the ingenious game of Smith. He played just fine. Thanks to him for not playing a cool hero like before. He knew perfectly well that the whole film was on it, and did not blunder it. Special thanks for the scenes with the killing of the dog and the monologue with the mannequin, I almost burst into tears. Will Smith once again proved to everyone that the drama is his hobby. I did not forget about the dog. In my opinion, she understood Smith as a pro. Thanks to the trainers. Since there were almost no other heroes, you can skip them.

Directing.
I did not know what to expect from Francis Lawrence, because before that he only shot “Constantine”. But I will not deny, “Constantine” I liked, he had his own atmosphere (which is very expensive). Directing in “I’m a legend” is excellent, because from the deserted New York goose bumps run. Once Alfred

Hitchcock said: “Every phrase of an actor kills a film.” The phrases in “I’m a legend” per minute are many times less than in any other film, and it follows that “I am a legend” film in which the stage basis of the movie remains in the background second to contemplative (but that does not mean that Will Smith was not Needed). But so beautiful panoramas speak for themselves. Even at the very beginning within a minute we are shown just an empty and overgrown with grass, New York, from these shots even goose bumps. With its difficult task – “to make a movie with one actor and that it was not boring” – Francis Lawrence managed five with a plus. After the first 45 minutes, you can not tear your eyes from the screen. You can say one thing Francis Lawrence once again proved that he knows how to make movies.

Operator’s work
Here, too, everything is at the highest level. I especially want to note close-ups and panoramas.

Special Effects
Sorry, but $ 150 million is not comic money. But apparently they all went to drive people from the streets of Manhattan and the scenery. After all, I did not see the super-bold battles. Although they would have spoiled everything, having made from the psychological thriller mikeballevsky attraction. I was just shocked by the scenery, and besides driving people out of the streets, they still need to be stuffed with dirty cars and grass! The phrase of the stone jungle fits here perfectly. Maybe it’s a computer, maybe not. But I’m inclined to the fact that all this is natural.

Music and sound
Prior to the premiere, I watched the movie about the shooting and it was such a great music, and in the trailers, too, was good. And in the movie, no matter how much I listened, I did not hear. Ugliness! What about the soundtrack so everything is at the highest level. Especially the shouts of the infected behind the scenes. Background noise of the dead city is also amazing.
