“Where Are You?” – IN 2020!
“SCOOB!” – Another victim of “transfers.” Finally, the Scooby-Doo movie is going to be on the big screen and not again. Okay, well, at least there’s some way to pass the time on isolation. Well, what do we have? Um… it’s a pretty standard full-length film about everyone we know. It’s all about famous voices, soundtracks and more expensive animation. But all this doesn’t cancel out the fact that the product turned out well. Yes, the themes are beaten, the twists are predictable, and everything in general is very naive. But come on – it’s Scooby-Doo! When did the series have something unique in terms of plot?
Everyone will be glad to see the characters they know again, to get the same naive puzzle-switching, to hear a couple of jokes, and enjoy the atmosphere of SCOOBY movies.
It’s all in order now…
1. Screenplay
Yes, for the tick… Not the best thing about the ribbon, but still. The story tells us about Fred, Daphne, Velma, Scooby and Shaggy – in short, the Mystery Wagon team. To be honest, the trailers do not reveal anything, except that we were shown moments of acquaintance with the company and a hint of another mystery.
Yes, mainly this film was designed to be shown in cinemas, where many people had to fully work feelings of nostalgia. Although what kind of nostalgia, if the full meters about Scooby are still out, but most still remember the old movies and series, so it was quite calculated on this. So it wasn’t a big deal. It’s trite and predictable. Still, it doesn’t cancel what’s interesting to watch, and jokes are really fun.
It’s also nice to see familiar characters again. Maybe your attention will be focused on other characters, but then again – nostalgia for the old is inevitable. For me, the best thing in the movie was the dog Dynomutt, who used to make sarcastic jokes in tutus. There’s nothing to say about disclosure, because we already know everything about everyone. And if you lived on another planet or underground without the Internet and do not have the slightest idea about the characters, then you will just be shown the background and the emphasis on the qualities of the characters.
In addition, the picture reveals the theme of friendship. The whole idea behind the painting comes down to this. It is clear that the thought that “friendship is important” is beaten, but here we almost for the first time showed us some disagreements, as well as the fact that still more important for the heroes.
Anyway… The script was quite common for the Scooby series. Naive, predictable, stupid, but funny, interesting, funny and sincere. Anyway, there’s everything that everyone loves this franchise for.
2. Animation.
Well… she seemed pretty average to me. No, the main protagonists are drawn normally, but the rest of the people (let’s call them “masculine”) are drawn so themselves. Maybe I’m picking on it, but I think they just didn’t want to spend their energy and finances on it. But that’s not critical, because 90% of the main characters on the screen are on the tape. So the drawing is pretty good for a project like this. If you compare it with previous ribbons, then perhaps much better and MORE!
3. Atmosphere + Soundtrack
It’s the best thing about the movie. It’s mostly thanks to the soundtrack. And yes, the SCOOB! The Album” is awesome! It’s got everything – House, Pop, Alternative, R&B and more. Separately, I’m going to do Galantis and their “I Fly”. To start with, Galantis are fucking geniuses who continue to amaze me more and more. Not only do they keep the quality bar high and release everything in their sound for many years while still experimenting, but I would never have thought that a standard classic House with a quite ordinary piano sound would be heard at a rehearsal for days on end. The truth is, EDM geniuses. Besides them there’s also R3HAB with A R I Z O N A; Lennon Stella with Charlie Puth and many other cool artists with no less cool tracks. And Junkie XL didn’t let you down with his instrumental accompaniment.
Maybe there were no full-fledged tracks in the movie as such, but let’s be honest – there wouldn’t be a movie, there wouldn’t be tracks. And the album turned out to be at least at the level, so the score will be overrated because of the explosive compilation. I hope you’ve explained.
Well, as for the entourage… well, it’s interesting to see, there’s nowhere to be bored either. I don’t think there are any unnecessary comments.
Bottom line:
“SKUBI-DU (2020) is a pretty good family ribbon. Yes, it does not stand out from the crowd of others, but it may well come in. Anyway… A typical project from the series of adventures “Scooby and the Company”, but with expensive animation and excellent muse. The right expectations and you’ll love it. Of course, if you wait for the Disney cartoon studio, then you’ll resent it later. Think of it as another cartoon from a familiar series.
I give you a reference. (The real score for the ball is lower; the soundtrack adds a plus.) And yes, if possible, watch the movie in the original or to the extreme with subtitles if you are over 14. Dialogs are simple, basic English is enough, and you get a lot more emotion.
So far, it’s the best thing that’s come out of a full-meter strip during the insulation period.
