“The 355” is the story of female secret service agents who team up to intercept a device that can hack into any computer system, with the consequence that the world is in danger. Personally I was interested in “The 355”, I like movies about spies, but by the way, for the last years in particular I think there were no good spy movies with female characters in the foreground (I remember the trashy “Red Sparrow” which still makes me nervous, to tell the truth). Another reason to see this movie, is my favorite actress Jessica Chastain in the title role.
I can say that “The 355” was a rather good film, I liked the frequent changes of locations, the events developed in several countries, the movie came out to be dynamic and not boring, the plot was intriguing (but not very surprising). Fighting scenes, chases, shootouts looked good, I can’t say there were any super action scenes, but everything looked good.
About the actors. Jessica Chastain, Mace, her character comes across as a determined one, she goes after her goal no matter what, Chastain in the character looked not bad and if we compare her to the similar character Eva from “Agent Eva” with her in the leading role, I liked Mace’s character better. Diane Kruger, Marie, I would say that her character turns out to be stern, not too emotional, she is a pro of her craft who sweeps everything in her path, Kruger is in good shape, it has been a long time since I have seen her on big screens.
Lupita Nyong’o, Khadija, an IT specialist, what can I say without a good programmer, the mission at the present time is impossible, Nyong’o seamlessly fit into the role. Penelope Cruz, Graciela, her heroine is drawn into unaccustomed circumstances, in the course of the plot she has to keep up with her newly minted colleagues, and she successfully does it.
In general, “The 355” is a quite watchable action film, it is certainly not “Mission Impossible”, but if compared with some thrash films about spies “The 355” is not so bad, there is a boring story, there is a main aim which is followed by the heroine who tries to solve the problem together, despite the complicacy of the circumstances. The movie has dynamics, the visuals are quite spectacular, plus the cast is good. I can not say that “The 355” is a masterpiece in its genre, but you may watch it once.
