By 2017, the sadistic TV show The Running Man, whose innocent victims had no chance of survival, had become a favorite pastime for the Americans, which had turned into a paramilitary state.
Among them was policeman Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who refused to shoot an unarmed crowd of hungry people. Now, together with his brothers in misfortune, he will take part in a mad race to death, fight invincible monsters – Professor Cryo, Chainsaw, Ball Lightning and Dynamo, and take revenge on the inhuman host of the show.

You can say anything about action films with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but they are all unique. In cinema, there was no second such memorable image of an action hero, and if you name any of his films and ask what is the point there, the answer will be simple – this is a movie with Schwarzenegger. In the 80s and 90s, he was just a role model – huge, strong, fearless and unshakable. In each new action movie, he goes ahead, shooting and scattering villains in all directions, and ultimately wins the applause of millions. Just like on the sports platform – the one and only.
The Running Man was no exception. This is a 100% Hollywood action movie with Arnold as the savior of all mankind. This time from the hands of a powerful corporation that, after a global cataclysm, controls the activities of the entire population of America. The rest of the countries are silent, but we know that if the United States, then the whole world too, heh. And in the center – a bloody TV show (now popular online broadcasts, but not the essence), in which gladiator fighters exterminate each other in particularly cruel and spectacular ways. By the way, one of the few films in which the presence of Stephen King’s script is not felt, after all, the genre is a bit different.
The film is interesting, in addition to the stubborn convict-former policeman Ben Richards with the physique of ‘Mr. Olympia’, the participants in this very program – there are huge hockey players with deadly sticks-washers, and madmen with electric shockers in their wrists, and maniacs on motorcycles with chainsaws. And even flamethrowers with flying machines and boxing champions (Jess Ventura, familiar in the image of Blaine from ‘Predator’), all of them prey on the unfortunate participants of the ‘Running Man’. The winner, of course, who, but he is not alone – in misfortune they threw a girl with whom Ben could go to Hawaii, but did not go to bed because of her stubbornness.
The action movie with Arnold is, first of all, a spectacle. And here it is above the roof – the main characters run through the ruins, where the aforementioned ‘freaks’ hunt them, and gradually get rid of each pursuer, while losing in their ranks. Ben Richards, without whom the show would not have been a show, deals with them with remarkable physical ability and some ingenuity, and ultimately blows all this world domination of the corporation to hell. The audience is in seventh heaven with happiness, they admire and thank Schwarzenegger for the fact that God himself sent him to them! Well, just like in the real world.
In my opinion – not the best, but a high-quality action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the best traditions of this genre. It could not be otherwise.
