Colonel William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) is sent to fight the Indians, but unexpectedly found peace and harmony in a foreign land, left military service and settled with his wife in a remote place. They had three sons Alfred (Aidan Quinn), Tristan (Brad Pitt) and Samuel (Henry Thomas). The Colonel’s wife died quite early, and the children grew up strong and handsome, and were also friends with the Indians, learning from them everything, and above all the love of freedom. One day Samuel is the first to bring his bride Susanna (Julia Ormond) into the house. This woman is destined to change the lives of all four men of the Ludlow family.
A slow but very likeable epic drama in which, as in life, all the best goes to Brad Pitt.
