Film description

Howard’s appearance on Earth was the result of an experiment conducted by earth scientists. Howard was “pulled” out of the familiar world by a laser beam directed by scientists to his planet. On Earth, Howard discovers many pleasant things.

He drinks beer, always walks with a cigar clamped in his beak, he meets rockers, the young soloist of the rock band Beverly Schwitzler becomes Howard’s girlfriend. But one day a very unpleasant alien creature enters the Earth through a laser beam. The appearance of the second alien spoils Howard’s life. In the end, he has a desire to go back to his duck planet …

4k movies reviews
I must say right away that the film is definitely not as bad as one might think looking at the ratings of IMDb users. Obviously, a lot of viewers unanimously gave the film the lowest score on the sole reason that this is a film adaptation of a comic book, moreover, not the most famous one.

There are really a lot of shortcomings here, but on the whole this is a very kind and pleasant film, which, in my opinion, was undeservedly included at one time in all sorts of lists of the worst films.

The main thing when watching is not to forget that this is just a fantastic comedy, with eccentric scholars, clumsy policemen, brave adventures, heroic deeds and all sorts of absurdities, obligatory for the genre. In addition, various genre clichés are organically used and ridiculed in the film, which makes the picture even more attractive.

Some of the episodes turned out to be really funny. Particularly successful, in my opinion, was the scene in the roadside sushi bar. Jeffrey Jones as a professor obsessed with an alien ‘dark lord’ is something with something. Perhaps the main decoration of the film.

The costume of the protagonist is very well made, and the remarks of the feathered Howard are written amusingly. If you wish, you can draw parallels between the type of this sarcastic alien with the hero of another, more famous and successful 86th project – Alf.

Those who are not impressed by the central character can watch the play of young Tim Robbins (in the role of a simple laboratory assistant) and Leah Thompson (a year after the release of the first part of Back to the Future, she appears as the frontwoman of a girl’s musical group). In their roles, they look pretty cute. Police lieutenant was played by Paul Guilfoyle – in the future, who rose to Captain Jim Brass from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
