Film description

The defeat of Khan and the creation of the planet Genesis were another triumph for Captain James T. Kirk; but these victories no longer matter to him. Kirk lost one of his best friends, Spock, who died saving the Enterprise, a loss that is irreparable.

At the same time, Kirk is close to losing his other best friend, McCoy, who has lost his mind.

An unexpected visit from Zarek, Spock’s father, clarifies the situation and gives Kirk hope – Spock is alive, and his mind is currently placed in McCoy’s body. To help his friends, Kerk hijacks his ship, already destined for scrapping, and violates the Federation’s quarantine on the planet Genesis, where a scientific expedition led by his son David is working.

But at the same time, the Klingons find out about the existence of Genesis, and their warship under the control of Commander Kruge is hastily sent to the planet Genesis. Their meeting is inevitable …

4k movies reviews
The first Star Trek feature film was just a present for the fans: look, guys, the characters never get old! For ten years now, the series has not been released, and the adventures are just beginning. The second became a butt on the head: the heroes do not age, but they tend to die. The third … the third, to be honest, makes me, as a spectator, loudly express my delight, and me as a fan is stupid to blink, because it’s amazing and indescribable how everything has changed.

If we speak in a loud and tortured language, then for me the third film reflected not even the changes, but fractures – the fractures of everything in the world. The time itself, the environment in which the film was created, has changed and has changed. Spaceships have already plowed the vastness of the screens with might and main, ‘Return of the Jedi’ has already been released, inflicting a final and not even a retaliatory blow to all ideas about the old fiction, and new heroes who were striving for freedom, knowledge and justice came to replace the old ones. They were drawn to about the same, but they could afford simple and not very highly moral methods – with a brick on the head (and it is good if on the head). It was then that Leonard Nimoy began to direct the next part of the adventures of the immortal ship ‘Enterprise’.

And he hit the mark (as, indeed, always, he is still Spock!). The main motto of ‘quest’ is action, action and again action. Fast, fast, fast, run, run, gallop, gallop, even further – there! See ?! You won’t have time to catch your breath for the whole film, everything is swift and twisted, just like in the best examples of TOS. Needless to say, how the film wins in terms of plot in comparison with the first and second, which you watch rather with reverence and awe?

For me, Star Trek in any of its manifestations is already a return to something old and good, well known. Scotty still speaks with a Scottish accent, while Chekhov speaks a little Russian. Everything is in its place, except for one, irreplaceable, element, the search for which the film is dedicated to.

And in the process of these very searches, one wonders: oh, is it them? The heroes in the film are put in a situation of choice between an official and a personal duty. And, of course, like any real hero, they will prefer to fulfill their personal, being ready to accept the punishment for neglecting personal duty. Escape from the Starfleet ship, rendering its mechanisms unusable, kidnapping ‘your’ prisoner from prison, brazen jailers, ‘Don’t call me shorty’ from Sulu … First you unwillingly rub your eyes, and then you think about the fact that these people are also make some claims to JJ Abrams …

Separately, I can’t help but thank Nimoy for how he dealt with the rather goofy storyline associated with David. It was unexpected, but dashing and beautiful, like everything that happens in this film.

There is a lot more to say, but Finding Spock is exclusively for gourmets, for amateurs, for those who know how much behind this fun company. This is a film about old heroes and eternal moral values, but in a new way.

If the Track has changed, has ceased to be what its first fans remember, then it happened gradually and quite logically, like everything the Vulcans put their hand to. Simply the most obvious collapse of the old world came when the Enterprise made its final flight, tracing a line of fire across the sky for the planet Genesis. New World – New Track. And so on many, many times. And for each of these new Tracks, a special corner is reserved in my heart.
