Ex-military man Will Sharp desperately needs money for experimental surgery for his terminally ill wife. He enlists the help of his criminal half-brother, Danny, and he drags him into a bank robbery. However, things do not go according to plan, the brothers have to steal an ambulance along with a doctor and a badly injured patrolman, and now their only chance to get out of this mess alive and not go to jail for life is to keep the policeman alive.
4k movies reviews
The movie starts off great. Here we are introduced to the first character, showing his apartment, lined with military photos and medals, showing his family, whom he loves very much, his problems. Then we are introduced to the ambulance doctor, showing her in action, at work. It’s all done well and getting to know the characters seems to me to be the best part of the movie.
Next, the robbery begins. And in spite of the fact that the plan of the robbery itself looks maximally ridiculous from the very beginning, as well as the fact that some bunch of freaks, whose criminals are drug addicts, are guessed a mile off just by their looks, go to the robbery. In spite of all this, the heist is briskly filmed and holds the heat.
The main problems begin in the second half of the film, during the chase. The movie lasts 2.5 hours and of those 2 hours, the characters are just driving around in a car. The police are constantly hanging around somewhere near them, but essentially do nothing to stop the criminals.
There is absolutely no suspense, no tension, in this very chase scene. You may see this tension in movies like “Speed” or “Out of Control” where the characters also have to step on the gas during the whole movie, but their lives depend on it and every minute there are more and more difficulties on their way. Here, on the other hand, the characters just drive back and forth through the city and figure things out with each other in a chamber setting.
Because of all of the above, it feels like the last half-hour or so of the movie drags on forever. I wish that the movie would end somehow. And it ends somehow. Literally.
All in all, you can watch the movie once, far from being the worst action movie for once. But you can also not watch it and lose nothing.
