Film description

If there is a crime, there is a motive. If there is a lineup, there is at least one suspect. But this was an unusual crime. Five criminals had run into each other in one unusual place and decided to spin the same thing. But someone more powerful and influential, someone whose name frightens all the criminals of the world, wants them to work for him. This was no ordinary crime, and they are not just suspicious faces.

4k movies reviews
Hmm, I don’t know. Indeed, so many positive reviews, so many dithyrambs. But there was no fanfare in my head for this film. Nor were they silent during Kevin Spacey’s ‘Mega Game. Oscar? Was anyone else nominated that year? I almost turned it off at first, but the increased activity that was starting to happen stopped me. What is so scary about this Mr. X of the underworld that almost no one has ever seen? What is he avenging? And who the hell is he that I would waste my precious time watching this movie. It was only these questions that made me watch the film in its entirety.

The choice of actors for the roles was interesting. Stephen Baldwin suddenly found his character all of a sudden and played it perfectly. Benicio Del Toro was shoved into some obscure character in which he certainly could have shot, but, as often happens in films like this, he was shot first. Poor ‘crippled’ Spacey, who in me personally evoked neither pity nor admiration. Although it was kind of implied. Kevin Polak… Don’t be ridiculous! I don’t know much about this actor at all, although I’ve often seen him glimpsed in various movies of yesteryear in supporting roles, but every time I wondered what he forgot about the acting profession. Gabriel Byrne as a whole did not impress, although stubbornly portrayed himself as a retired Capone, who was fed up with everything and wants to quickly depart from the profession. Learn from Al, son. This whole group of fearless heroes didn’t seem like that to me. Fearless, I mean. They were more like a team of losers, who somehow got lucky with each new thing they did. They were the lucky ones with the loser faces.

I liked Chaz Palmenteri. He’s even a better cop than a mob boss. Though, his come-and-go manner with new facts didn’t seem to be serious and somehow formulaic.

I don’t think this film deserves that much admiration and reverence, for there are many films with similar tensions in the story, but played in a much more accurate and interesting way. The movie Seven, even though it has some faults. It’s not a bad movie! But it’s not brilliant by any means.
