4k movies reviews
Becoming one of the most sought-after Hollywood directors of our time, Michael Bay decided to organize his own production company Platinum dunes, which from the moment of its foundation began to release on the big screens reimagining classic horror films like “Amityville Horror” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. Having accumulated enough influence and experience in the given field, Bay decided that it was time to invest in original projects that could present the audience with something new, unpredictable and intense to the limit. And one of the most promising and promising films of the company, which followed after parting with the abundance of remakes, was “A Quiet Place” by John Krasinka, a popular American TV series actor, who thought it was time to diversify his work and give the audience something fresh and truly extraordinary. Having come up with the concept of a laconic horror with an ever-increasing level of suspense, together with two co-authors, Krasinski made it clear to the producers, headed by Michael Bay, that he needed absolutely ridiculous money by modern standards to implement his plans. And since the script was intriguing indeed, and Emily Blunt agreed to play one of the leading roles, the Platinum dunes executives had little doubt that this venture would be a winning one, and in the end the film, which cost investors only $ 17 million. , has collected more than 300 at the box office. It is natural that such a tremendous success could not pass unnoticed, “Quiet Place” fell in love not only with viewers, but also with critics who nominated the film for a number of prestigious awards. And since the story told by Krasinka actually ended in half a word, its sequel was inevitable and finally appeared at the box office three years after the original was released.

So, the plot of the film begins immediately after the end of that terrible day when monsters broke into the Abbott family’s farm, reacting to sound and destroying all living things on their way. Having lost the support of her husband Lee (Krasinski), his wife Evelyn (Blunt) makes a strong-willed decision to go in search of another habitat, since it was impossible in principle to stay in the old territory for a number of reasons. Having collected all the necessary things, as well as weapons, which in the world after the End of the World are of special value, Evelyn, her newborn baby, as well as their son Marcus (Noah Joop) and daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) went on a long journey along the signs that at least At least they promise them a meeting with new people, but everything turned out to be not so simple. Having discovered a longtime family friend, Emmett (Cillian Murphy), the heroes understand that since the invasion, the world has changed beyond recognition. And this applies not only to a completely collapsed social system, but also to human relations in principle. From now on, everyone stands solely for himself, and if you get to the wrong place, you can face problems that can be worse than monsters. And yet it cannot be said that absolutely all people blindly worship the philosophy of their own survival at any cost. Still, there are still centers of civilization that, in spite of everything, remember what the old world was like and why the memory of it must be preserved at any cost. However, reaching such strongholds is by no means easy, because, as before, so now, any extra rustle can turn into completely undesirable attention of monsters, and even if you check each of your movements several times, this does not give any guarantees that it will not appear before your eyes. something devoid of even the smallest ghosts of compassion. In such critical conditions, in the face of certain death, both children and adults are equal, but nevertheless, those who truly value life, are ready to come to mutual assistance of their neighbors, and will never give up, even if it seems that they will continue to fight, have a slightly higher chance of salvation. just pointless.

While developing the sequel to A Quiet Place, John Krasinski, as well as his colleagues, considered it necessary to fully maintain the overall style and tone of the narrative, so that the sequel looked absolutely logical and logical. Of course, the producers, headed by Michael Bay, could have allocated a much larger budget to the director and sent an extensive crowd to the set, but Krasinski himself did not demand anything of the kind, since he wanted to continue the story in such a way that it would continue to remain intimate and personal. Therefore, when the action of the sequel comes out on its own immediately after the end of the events of the first part, the audience familiar with The Quiet Place immediately plunges into an atmosphere of fear and mystery, which did not become less tense even though we were already clearly shown the monsters and demonstrated how to kill them. No one here gives guarantees that at the right moment the equipment will not fail, or that one of the heroes will not fall into a trap from which it is not so easy to get out. The number of characters in the film is strictly limited, which means that you cannot call an outsider for help, who, moreover, may turn out to be far from a confidential person, but a silent monster, led exclusively by his special desires. Of course, it is also worth recognizing here that the authors of the film use a little more special effects than before, and nevertheless there is nothing grotesque and striking here. The graphics are necessary for John Krasinski only to enhance the effect of fear of monsters and he absolutely competently uses the techniques at his disposal to reveal the next steps of the Abbott family, as well as Emmett, who met on their way, who also has his own special background and completely rightful place in one of the key storylines of the sequel.

Of course, as in any other entertaining Hollywood movie, in “Quiet Place 2” there are certain moments that are not completely friendly with logic and they are immediately striking. Not all characters, at the will of the authors, act adequately and meaningfully, which is why completely unnecessary problems arise in the story, but Krasinski’s ability to whip up suspense, cute and really talented actors, as well as the feeling of constant danger that is present throughout the entire viewing, make “Quiet place 2 “an intriguing work that becomes a worthy and organic continuation of the sensational picture in 2018.
