Once in a police station met …
… a good cop, a bad cop, a charismatic mercenary, and also, a psychopath with a manic desire to pervert everything that is possible. They came together in order to contemplate (and not only) a thief and a liar who did not want in a good way, which means that now he will have to figure out how to avoid a sad fate. In general, there is no plot as such. Only a plot that fits into one or at most two deviations from the typical narrative, filled with a moderate amount of pleasant references in a humorous form, demonstrations of increased brutality in the frame, as well as discourses about life.
Nevertheless, we have before us a dialogue cinema, which only occasionally allows itself to be distracted by information from the outside. And, in all this turmoil, there is no place for a decent disclosure of characters. It uses such a simple story formula that they are desperately trying to stretch it as far as possible. From this, meaningless and unnecessary dialogues appear. However, the project has something to brag about in terms of script, because it eventually turns into a kind of statement about a moral choice and that it is far from always obvious.
Fortunately, there is humor here, which defuses the situation well. In particular, these are amusing skirmishes of heroes, which are curious to watch, references (for example, Tom Cruise’s ponytail or Thor’s figure), Toby Huss’s antics, which became an integral part of this film, and of course, the very theme of the victim’s isolation with the killers in the police station adds this situation is comic.
But it is the chemistry between the actors that allows you to attach the viewer to the screens. Butler, Grillo and Hass are the ones for whom this film is definitely worth watching. Despite the fact that Gerard again can not get rid of the eternal image of the ‘guy who wants to save everyone’.
Another emotional discharge should work here – action scenes. Sometimes it works, but more often it doesn’t. Although, the moment the knife passes through an obstacle in the form of Butler’s hand, and shooting at bulletproof glass while the heroine activates a new code, I may remember. And so, these are the same shootouts into the void and slow motion with a piercing view.
Copshop is a good sit-down action movie that won’t let you get bored, which is an important feat in modern cinema.
